HI to all!
I just returned to London from a 6 weeks holiday to Thailand..
I would like to move to Th Full Time and I do have some capital to invest. I'm from the catering industry (restaurant - etc).
There are any BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY available or any experience good or bad from all of you.
I do not think to become rich in Thailand but just I would like to mantein the value of my capital and just make a simple living.
I do speak very weel thai as weel - so it can be easyer.

I have mentioned in an earlier posting about a few months ago that since many brothers are very interested in LadyBoys ('katoeys'), someone should set up a massage parlour fully staffed by pre-ops and post-ops katoeys. We can also set up a 'Gigolo Club' next door to cater to bitchy ladies,neglected wives/mistresses.
Since you are from the catering industry, we can establish a nice restaurant to serve thec 2 clubs.

This is a common theme. People have a good time on vacation, and then realize that they'd like an income stream as well to stay in paradise.
A lot (the majority) have lost their shirts. Some make it, most don't is the bottom line. You know how they used to say "never get involved in a land war in Asia..", nowadays it's "never get involved in a business venture in Asia."
Some reasons are:
1) You need a Thai partner in many cases (not all cases) to operate your business legally. A lot of people for one reason or another pick their BG girlfriend (which, considering that she is an individual who had to resort to selling her body to make a living... maybe or may not be the wisest of business decisions) to be their partner. 
2) Almost any business that you can think of, the locals will undercut your profit margins (plenty of exceptions of course.... Pizza Hut, Car World Club, Berli Jucker, Pacific Internet, etc).
That's about it really. Simple obstacles.... but two MAJOR hurdles when it comes to making bread, dough, money-honey.

Good advice P'rip - from what Ive seen, to have some reasonable hope of being successful, - you need a business that generates income outside of Thailand, e.g. export - mind u, as I'm getting more hassled by Her in doors/baby these days re my nocturnal hours .. maybe you fancy a P.I. biz ?
