Had a Guy ask me to confirm what he assumed a sure scam for some $$ from his TG - Trying to go straight, the girl applied for a job, - then told the guy she needed money for a bond, for a uniform, plus she had to get a respected Thai to guarrantee her - quite true, everything loaded towards the employer here, no wonder it is all too tough for some girls, so they stay at the bar. Costs about 10,000 bond to work in a 7/11 !! whilst most Hotels will ask for 3-5,000bt, also hit them up for a uniform, which comes out of the wages if they cant pay in advance - also if they are working with a till, any shortfall comes straight out of their wages, no questions asked ! - so if the little restaurant cashier makes a mistake, [ ok - not often in your favour - but if it is ... best you let her know ]

any shortfall comes straight out of their wages, no questions asked!
In Bamboo Bar, it comes out of the tips, so everyone feels it, and would be more inclined to work together to reduce these shortfalls.

Fair comment - although being a very lowly paid job, most staff at restaurants could do little else, and probably had to leave school at 12-13, hence often the need for 1 per table, when in european style, an efficient waiter can handle 10 tables - Nice to have plenty of staff hovering around however, just as long as they dont rush up and put some ice in your classic red wine in a show of enthusiasim !
