Me and a couple of my m8's shall be heading out to Thailand later this year for our first time for 6 weeks. With this being our first time we are hopeing to have a real good time travelling to Bkk, Pattaya and so on.
With this being our first time we really want to make the most of it by staying in at least a 3 star hotel, dining out, getting rat assed and layed regulary most nights if not all.
How much money do you all suggest we should be needing to have some fun?

I spend usually just below B5000/day everything included(hotel, girls, food, transport, very limited shopping etc).
It's been pretty constant last few trips even I don't have a budget or anything just try hard to not need to hit the ATM every day for another B9900 top up 
For hotel I spend in bkk just below 1k, while in PTY about half! For girls I do FRL, eden, a few MP, gogo's etc. at least 1 girl/day...

There are always costs that do not fit into a budget, like the 500 baht departure tax (do not forget that one  ). As I am an avid reader I always get home with some books I've bought locally. Also inter city transportation can cut your budget up big time. If, for instance, you like to go to Koh Samui you can go there by plane (expensive) or by train and boat (cheap, but takes a while). Likewise to Chiang Mai, although the airfare to Chiang Mai is a lot better than to Koh Samui, and no boat of course .
This is just a guideline for me. I do not take these figures like they are cast in to concrete. But without any budget there is no way to measure your spending to. I have budgeted about 1.500 euro's for my trip, excluding airfare, which is about 72.000 baht. Splitting it into 12 days leaves me with 6.000 baht a day. Besides, a holiday should not be a mathematic excercise, have fun.

one big lesson we all learnt in the early days money! I tend to do the following after evolving a system....Pay your accomadation(if not this trip next) before you go...ONES THAT include breakfast will help you budget, as that meal daily is assured. BOOK and pay for good accomadation...at least if your running low...you will have comfort and a good breakfast to look forward to,and a short-timer finish. Running out is terrible, and though i have know lots that have......Leave $500 cash to be sent to you via western union at the last 4 day mark by someone you can trust, as i newbie that will ensure your safe return and a happy ending (girls).. I slurge but thats me...once i learnt the hard way and ended up[ short timing themae girls at 1 am such was the resources left......Heres a comfortable guide to what i would at least take... Accomadation..(un-paid for min 1200-2500 ) theres nothing worse than living in a dump overseas..delay your trip if you have to! but this is the rest i think a typicial punter will require.....DrinKs......8 alcoholic drinks at 80 baht...640baht...2bar fridge drinks at 100 baht....equals 200 baht...4 soft drink water 20 baht...equals 80 baht...total drinks 920 baht....80 bahts tips....so we can safely say 1000 baht a day drinks.... FOOD...we have options /but lets take the middle ground.......breakfast (unpaid for in hotel) coffee toasted sandwich..fruit water say....100 baht..lunch 150 baht..dinner 200 baht....50 in extras 500 baht a day....SO have a relaxed ability to eat drink on 1500 baht a day....now to be merry..taxis sky trains 150 baht tops!...POOL 100 baht.....movies / entertainment bowling whatever....400 baht......newspaper/internet...200 baht.... so we have the abilility to relax communicate order a beer pool side eat a decent lunch move about the city...and its up to 2350.baht a day! add 150 for extras and thats your answer 2500 a day! NOW THE girls........assume you like say a Blow job each day before an afternoon nap back at the hotel...600 baht.....allow 500 -1000 entrance for girl at hotel....(if shity hotel leave off ) add 500 bar fine 100 lady drinks 2000 girl thats 3000-4500 a day..girls add a couple of massages 4000 baht say ove 10 day period...shopping 5000 baht photos/video 2000 baht.....total is based on the above..reasonable expenses on average X 10.... including the $500 sent... question good ten day stay in thailand girls abundant drink ....comfortably? 75,000-100,000.......deducted 25,000 if you decide to long time a freelancer/have girlfriend/wife.....but realise that to relax enjoy 5,000 baht should be the min.amount daily and 10,000 a great amount to work with..nil worries......I spend around 6000 baht a day and i have a wife there and only short time behind her back with say a 10,000 total boys out budget........if you eat hotel food as she does alot ...its better to take visa card..and not even count...sure on the cheap.....you could f_ck eat breathe for 3ooo a day...but best have good memories quality arse and enjoy the beers....its hot!

Thanx everybody for the help, i was quite surprised to see how expensive this could work out to be. The thing that gets me is some friends of mine have told me im crazy going out there for only 6 weeks with 3,500.00GBP
when they were doing just fine for the same ammount of time with women, drinking and everything else for about 2,500.00.

One way to save a little extra cash is to have a rest day at least once a week where you just lounge around and spend as little money as possible. This gives you a chance to recuperate and enjoy the next few days even more. 6 weeks is a decent amount of time - so your body will appreciate the pit-stops.
