I am dealing with USA regularly in cash so i have here some notes and would like to convert them direct to Baht instead of converting them first to Euro and loose on the process twice! So please,if anyone can tell me wich one i can bring and wich one to avoid it would be a great help(i have some 50's,some 20's, some 10's 5's and a few 1 dollars) Thanks a Lot Madfrog

My experience is that if you bring 100s, then you get a better exchange rate. Keep the small bills for small emergencies, and for when you get back on the airplane, landing in your stopover.

If you go to a bank, you should be able to exchange USD smaller than $100 but the exchange rate is not quite as good. But the rate is not terrible for the smaller bills.

$50 and $100 denominations get the best exchange rate, $5 / $10 / $20 second best, $1 the worst. Kasikorn Bank ForEx Rates- it's the old Thai Farmers Bank's new name.

Pattaya Specific information. Had difficulty exchanging 100 bills produced in 1996. Information at many of the exchane outlets list 1990, 1993 & 1996 as being not accepted. Anything after 1999 was no problem. Current as of 17 Jul.

I found last May that $50 us was the easiest bill to exchange. I went to 3 different changers in Pattaya and had no trouble. $100's, however, do get scrutinized, rubbed, scratched, eyeballed, exposed to ultraviolet radiation and other things before exchanging. Ok, maybe not that bad, but you get the idea.
