Let's just say I legitimately owe her money.
I know some of you guys have send money for one reason or another. So please tell me what's the best way to make sure she gets it.

Western Union is the fastest way and she can acces the money from several locations with her ID card within the first hour that you send it. You can do it online with a credit card or checking account. Kind of expensive but it's the fastest and most convenient way for the chick to get the cash.
If you are going to send money on a periodic basis then I suggest getting her an ATM card from your home bank. That is the most cost effective way.

This topic is covered elsewhere in this forum, but to give you a quick answer, I was in the same situation and had promised to send money to a girl last year. Try "moneygram" available in most places in US, not sure elsewhere. Need the girls Thai Name in english and you can pick the bank branch nearest her. All she has to do is go to the branch, show ID and pick up the Baht. Email her to tell her where to go. Takes about 24 hours. Hope this helps.

the best answer to this old question, is in a small wallet, marked sea frieght, via china, and send it in 20 baht notes, all 500 of it, then see if she waits....(otherwise..welcome to the union ...western that is....)

Western Union is expensive with their crappy exchange rate and outlandish fees but it is the fastest and beoing able to do it online is convienient. Other similar services exist.
The safest, although not fastest manner is a bank to bank wire transfer straight to her account from your account. The fee I pay is $10. It is there in the account within 48 hrs.
Other than that, if you really trust her, send her an ATM card with a daily limit in case of a loss. My fiancee has used my bank card for months now and other than the foreign currency exchange fees and maybe the "other bank ATM fee" it is the best for us.

If it's an amount that you have to pay in installments, open a bank account, and send her the ATM card. I have done this before, and it worked beautifully. Just make it clear that she has to take out the max each time, or you'll be stuck with a bunch of international ATM withdrawal fees...
Otherwise, US International Postal Money orders are cheap (<$2 if I remember correctly), safe, and will send $700 at at time (assuming you're in the US).

On the international bank transfer be careful. That is how my company pays me and there is always a fee on my end as well as theirs.

Problem with that is that because of some postal regulation international money orders to certain countries ( Thailand being one of them ) can only be sent from certain states. I tried to send one from Michigan and was told that they would have to send it to Chicago first and then it would be sent from Chicago to LOS. I decided to pass on that idea  . Peace

I agree with HS & CS wire transfer involve fees on both ends. Banks in the USA normally charge $30.00 USD plus a fee on the Thai bank end.
Previously I had sent an US International Postal Money order it took 1 month for the Thai bank to release funds so you can get the money but it is slow.
Western Union or the Bank with ATM is the best bet.
