Anyone have a problem cashing a US $500 traveler check (a single check) in Bangkok. I would not think there would be a problem, but just want to make sure.

All banks and Money Exchange outlets in major Thai cities will cash $500 US American Express TCs with Passport ID (probably minor cities also). Many large stores will accept $100 TCs as payment for large purchases however you will generally not be able to use $500 TCs at stores, restaurants, etc. of course.
Best exchange rates are for $100 and above. Same exchange rates are offered for $500 as for $100. Don't cash TCs at a hotel except in an emergency - unless you don't mind paying for the convenience with lesser rates.
I find it most convenient to start the trip with a combination of mostly $500 plus a few $100. I think it's prudent to limit walking-around money to the amount I expect to spend that day/nite, plus a TC and one credit card for impulse purchase/emergency supplement, with other TCs and credit cards left in the hotel safe.

WTF? Yeah, there are other threads on TC's and I have answered many questions about TC's in those threads, but there are no threads dealing with $500 denomination TC’s to the best of my knowledge.
This thread is about $500 TC's and it is perfectly legitimate to have this separate thread on that subject.

I only bring $500 TC's and never had any problem cashing them, even up country. I always go to a bank. You need to bring your passport.
Sometimes up country they give it in 500 baht notes. Now thats a wad that would choke a buffalo.

The previous thread did not really ask or answer the question of how hard it is to cash a $500 TC, although someone speculated that it might be harder. The previous thread also does not seem to show up in a search using "$500".
