just wondering although im sure its hard to say. if i want to stay in decent hotel where i can take a pretty good looking girl everynight and get wasted everynight how much do i need for two weeks half the time in bangkok the other in pattaya. how far is bangkok from pattaya? thank you for the tip oldhand.

Most of your questions are answered in these threads but it is difficult to advise you 'cos we don't know how active you are going to be.
Hotels can be fine for 1400 baht each night.
Girls can be between 1500 baht and 5000 baht . Depends were you shop.
Pattaya is 90 miles from Bangkok. 2 hours in taxi , about 1000 baht.

How much you spend depends entirely on you.
On "average" one would spend the following:
Hotel: 1,200-2,000 B
Drinks: 1,000-2,000 B
Girl: 1,500-3,000 B (bar girls or pickups no high ends)
Food: 1,000 B
Transport: 500 B
Total: 5,200-8,500 (per day)
Two weeks : 72,800 B - 119,000 B
Bring along US$ 3,000, that should handle it, add in more if you think the numbers are too low.

A side note. If you drink a lot then 2,000 baht per day might not be enough. Especially if you are buying the ladies drinks. My business associates and myself spent over 29,000 baht on drinks at the Piano Bar. Corona's and martini's can add up, not to mention the ladies drinks!!

Cockerspaniel.... Sounds like you have the same game plan as me (minus the drinking part). I'll be in BKK 4 days and then Pattaya 4 days. When are you going?
We should compare notes! I've got a pretty rigorous massage parlor schedule set because I'm not much of a drinker. Although I will hit most of the top bars just to get a feel and see the crazy shows.
What's your plan like?

I have read your post and regarding shows, there are no more available in 99% of the places as police is monitoring carefully the bars.
Regarding expenses, above estimates are average rates. It wil depend mostly on your lifestyle. It can become much cheaper or much more expensive. Then use them as a guideline. As for money, if you need more, you can use easily ATM or money changers all around LOS.

if you are lookind for shows there is still "long gun" in soi cowboy and places like "firecat" and other 2nd floor patpong places which offer shows. I have to admit they are more tame than they used to be about 1 year ago, but they are still going!

If you are gonna spend that amount of money you should have a good time!!!!!!!! If you don't blow it all on a high price hotel.
Travellers checks are fine. Better to have Thai bahts for the girls. You can change your checks at the airport (you will need baht for the limo/taxi anyway)
Around BKK there are many cash machines, ATM's, certainly at the skytrain stations, which you may need to use if you need cash quick.

Budgeting $4,000 for 12 days is a good amount. I do not think you will spend all that money in 12 days, but it is possible.
I usuall budget $1,500 per week, not including hotel costs. This does including eating, transportation and entertainment. I rarely go over this budget. Infact, most of the time I am well below.
