The new guy in charge of the exchange van at the entrance of Soi 7.1 is scamming its customers, he tried to short-change me 30 baht last night and lie about the rate when he open for business.
Its not big money but still annoying so you better check if you change money there, who know what will be his next stunt...

Well, Madfrog, the rate changes so fast and so sharply these days you really could lose big time. Last week I drew identical amounts from the ATM on two consecutive days and ended up paying the equivalent of $5 more on the second day. That leaves me wondering whether different banks use different exchange rates. On day 1 I withdrew from Kasikorn Bank ATM, on the second day from Siam Commercial Bank ATM. Maybe the rates fluctuated so wildly. Siam also charges 20 baht extra for a print out, but I am not sure if this charge also applies at the exchange counter. Did you ask for the printout ?

Banks here are a f***ing laugh. While I was arranging a Bangkok Bank ATM card I watched a girl slowly move the my 50 baht change across her desk until it fell into her lap. She musta thought I was a chump. Should have slapped the bitch.

Problem with this guy has nothing to do with rates changing, if your receipt say you should receive 8858 baht and you receive 8828 baht then he is simply pocketing some money right?
One more thing : VASU is no longer the best exchange rate around, used to be but really no more...

Exchange rates ARE going mental right now though. Not saying these guys aren't scamming you, but mere mad exchange rate changes with no other evidence, then probably not.

Give the girl a break - she was adjusting the exchange rate, as it was changing RIGHT as you were there... dynamically!
