Does anyone have updated info about getting an "unsecured" Credit Card? What banks.....what requirements? I only know that SCB told me that I had to have a salary of 100,000 baht a month, and Bangkok Bank only gives "secured" cards. I'm looking for an "unsecured" card.....if possible. Thanks, jazz

What do you mean by unsecured ? Do you mean quite simply, a normal credit card whereby the bank give you a card with a credit limit and off you go ? If so then you MUST have a valid Thai Working Permit, Be able to prove salary by way of payslip or letter from company and SCB lie about 100,000 unless it's changed. From experience the most farrang credit card friendly company I know is Tesco Lotus ! Seriously, very easy to get a card from them, with a very high limit considering. Next is Kasikorn. But if you don;t have a work permit then give up, UNLESS The alternative, especially from SCB is that you deposit say 100,000 baht into a fixed 1yr deposit, they will then give you a credit card with a limit of 100,000 for 1yr, secured on your fixed deposit, but i'm guessing this is not what you want. Of course if you're looking for credit and have no legitimate ways of showing you qualify for it under Thai regulations then simply get involved with dodgy loan sharks, plenty of them around, but avoid if you like your life, they tend to skip the leg breaking part !

That's exactly what a 'secured CC' is.
