Hi guys,

This isn't so much of a Hotel question, but where/what type of accommodation is available in BKK for maybe 1 or 2 months. I might be changing jobs soon and figure in taking an extended holiday in LOS, so obviously I don't want to blow my cash just in rentals. The closer to Sukhumvit, the better - mostly for easy access to the skytrain.

At this time my arrival would be late jan – mid feb for hopefully 2 months.

You could get a room at Lakeside Residence for about 7,000 B/month. It is in a small alley which is beside Deluxe nightclub on Asoke Road. it is just around the corner from Asoke station, and across the road from Soi Cowboy.

Alternatively, you could try Nana Condo on Sukhumvit Soi 4, past Nana Plaza. Think it is about 8,000 B/- month for a room.

Some few apartments are also available just opposite MBK and close to the National Stadium BTS Station.... 12-13K/month i.e. Pathumwan house, Pathumwan condo, etc....there are quite a few guesthouses in that area as well and mainly at 8K per month....good luck!!

The main requirement as I said would be close to BTS, so I can get around, a decent room (tv, air con, etc) and preferably an in room safe so I can keep my important stuff safe. Given that I'm renting the room/appartment, the place being guest friendly would be asumed.

Obviously if it is on/near Sukhumvit that would be an advantage, as I don't really want to walk home on after a late night.

More information on the Lakeside Residence would be appreciated if you have any. Do they have air con, telephone line for internet access, security, pool etc, thanks.

Any apartment with these features would be OK too, thanks. CV

ccvvbb, LR's rooms have a/c, with tv and a phone line, but they charge 1 B/min as opposed to 3 B/call for a regular phone line. No pool at all.

As most apartments will want deposits etc, you may try Street Lodge, Sukhumvit soi 1, very near Ploenchit BTS, Nana etc, it is a hotel, but charge only 10,000 bt per month, rooms not big, but have all you need, and of course are cleaned for you daily. -

It looks like I could well be in BKK or elsewhere in LOS for a couple of months in the summer and also want to look into getting a room or small apt as opposed to a hotel. How far in advance do you need to book the places mentioned in this thread? Also, are they okay or pretty grotty (due to price) ?

I also read somewhere a while ago that during the boom years in the 1990s loads of condos were built in BKK but due to the Asian economies crashing shortly afterwards a lot of them were left empty or were at least being put on the market at greatly reduced rates. Is this still the case or is it all urban myth ?
