Re the sponsership thread, seems to be a general thing that the more they get, the more thry want, but guess that happens worldwide, I know girls happy to get 5000bt per month, live cheaply with friends, eat on the footpath, and play "poker' for 1bt stakes - Girls getting 50,000bt eat at restaurants, shop at Emporium, and play poker in 500bt stakes ! - anyway, to get to the point, I often suggest, that the answer is to set-up your TG in a small business. You can rent a good shop in MBK or a shopping mall for example, for 10-15,000 bt per month, stock it with clothes from pratunam, or whatever - even cheaper, a stall at Chatujak market costs around 7000bt per month, another popular one is a hairdressing/and or beauty-make up course, then open a salon, or if you want the TG out of Bangkok, fish farms, selling at the local market etc etc are all things that would seem simple to set up, and then make the Girl sel sufficient, plus of course, keep her occupied whilst your away, and out of CM2, Nana disco,Q bar etc !! Although this seems a simple solution, I have yet to hear of many guys trying it - or in fact of something along these lines working ... why not ? - we know for a fact that by and large, regardless of their schooling, most TGs are not stupid -

Interesting topic. I've had this discussion with my TGF (believe it or not). In fact, she often brings it up, for two reasons I think. First, I think she feels school is hard and has elements of "mai sanuuk" (heaven forbid that anyone has to study hard). Second, she really wants to do something where she gets out of the apartment and does something the Thais are so famous for: socializing.
Along these lines, there is a section of town not far from her apartment that has a large city block full of outdoor restaurants. They charge about 6000 Baht a month to rent an area, plus expenses for canopies, etc. We talked to an Isaan lady who co-owned one of these places with her farang husband. He is a French expat who sits there at night drinking beer and chain smoking while she runs the show. She's obviously an ex-BG, and they seem content with each other (she's somewhere in her 30's). My TGF kept intimating that this was certainly something she could do too.
So you're right, it's a great alternative to over-generous sponsorship, and it helps to get them back into the mainstream. My only requirement with my TGF is that she must finish her GED. After that, I told her she can persue any of these other things. So that is the compromise I require of her: no one gets out of jail for free

I once thought about exactly this idea. ÝI wanted her to stop working at the bar, and start beauty school. ÝIt was her suggestion, after we talked about what she would like to do.
The problem is that her earning potential, at least during the first year or so, would be about 10% of what she made in the bar.
Even assuming you snatch her out of the place before she becomes habituated to the routine and comfort zone that the bar represents after a few weeks, she will miss the easy money.
At the other end, when she has become a bit longer in the tooth, and feels her days are numbered in the bar scene, the story depends on whether she was a 'no tomorrow' type, or one who has saved for her own retirement or goals. ÝIn either case, you probobly won't have much effect on her future.
It's hard to change old habits (the first case), or she won't need your help (second case)...

IMO, it's a question of whether they really want to do it or not. A lot of time the work ethic just isn't there. If they wanted to start a small food stand or clothing stand somewhere, it's 3 months rent deposit + inventory. If they had the work ethic, that could easily be made in well less than a year working the biz (even less if they wanted to open a shop in say a Lotus or Carrefour on the outskirts of Bangkok). You don't need a falang or Thai sugar daddy to rescue you... what you need is some self respect and self discipline, young lass.

I've said the same many a time; when it comes to getting out of "the life" it all depends on whether she really wants to or not.
If she doesn't want to, no amount of goodwill or financial investment on the part of her erstwhile savior is going to help and by the same token -- as PR says -- if she really wants to she can do it on her own.
There's nothing wrong with giving a boost mind you, but her desire is the prerequisite for success.

Actually, though I assume your post is at least partly in jest I would point out that the only females I've "corrupted" were willing "victims" and I was in commited relationships with them with all of the commensurate contributions to thier life -- financial emotional etc. And if there was any loss incurred, I may have been the one to suffer from it. Or at least partly so. I did have one relationship that caused me to coin what I called "The Frankenstein Syndrome"; I created a creature that I couldn't control and who reveled in its newfound power at the same time as it resented me for giving it life. But that's another story...
The rest of the ladies were well corrupted before I got my hands on them -- which of course was the key to thier appeal for me.
In any case I was mostly kidding about the pat on the back. I don't fool myself into thinking I did any great or noble thing and I know that what I did, I did for my own satisfaction -- as is essentially true of everything I do.
