I dont understand. BK, you say the post in the link above started the forum, but I see as its date "Posted on: 2:48 pm on June 19, 2002 " I though the forum started much earlier. What am I missing? was that the first thread and the dates are wrong or it was not and the dates are right? Actually, I think it would be interesting to know which was the first thread. I would like to go read it.

Smegerz - I think the boat pulled away from the shore and you weren't on it for this cruize. I think BK meant that he was moving the discussion of the linked thread to this thread and mistakenly typed "forum" instead of "thread". Of course I could be wrong in which case we are both left standing on the dock, wondering where the hell the ship went. ;)

Gents, Maybe this is the wrong thread for this, if so sorry. Can you help me out with some info about Farang marriage to a Thai girl?: Can you marry a Thai girl in an informal ceremony if you are still married in Farangland? If you can do that, are you committing bigamy if you register the marriage in Thailand? Would being married to a Thai girl in Thailand help her get a visa to travel to Farangland, in this case England to get married there? How much ground work is required, eg: interviews with emabassies etc? The reason I am asking these questions is that a TG friend of mine has been offerred marriage, and I want to make sure she is not being taken for a ride (plus I will miss her!) Surely, there has to be a process, forms, interviews, sureties etc for this all to happen. If so, how long do you think it would all take? Gents, I really will appreciate your input? Cheers, Liam

Liam,, yes that would be bigamy IF registered. It is much easier and less hassle for the official marriage to take place in the country of the Farang. The Thai wedding can be done without hassles as long as it is NOT registered and usually just done for "show" pourposes for family / relatives etc. Usually there is the equivalent of the Australian fiance' visa, yes forms and checks on relationship before approval, takes about 4 months for Aus but maybe longer for UK. Thanks Mel, As far as I know he hasn't started this process, but has told her he will marry her very soon in LOS, and she is expecting to be able to return to go home wiith him I think maybe he is stringing her along. Maybe his intentions are good, but I smell a rat. Cheers, Liam

Mel, Same same for Amerika, as I'm doing the fiancee visa right now and they require one to produce records showing you are lawfully single or divorced. Of course, one can do a local ceremony in Thailand, but unless it's registered, it has no legal weight in Amerika (or Oz or England, I assume too). I'd be very surprised in the English process didn't require similar legal clearances... - Balls

LiamOZ Posted on 2:23 pm on June 28, 2007 Gents, Maybe this is the wrong thread for this, if so sorry. Can you help me out with some info about Farang marriage to a Thai girl?: Can you marry a Thai girl in an informal ceremony if you are still married in Farangland? [YES, provided the ceremony is not legally recognised as a lawful marriage in your own country - the Thai ceremony with the chanting monks etc is not legally recognised in Oz] If you can do that, are you committing bigamy if you register the marriage in Thailand? [PROBABLY but not for certain. The main point is whether or not YOUR country and YOUR laws regard the Thai marriage as a lawful marriage.] Would being married to a Thai girl in Thailand help her get a visa to travel to Farangland, in this case England to get married there? [FOR Australia, certainly. It builds the case for the relationship being genuine - which is really the main thing that Oz visas seem to hinge on - is the relationship genuine on both sides.] How much ground work is required, eg: interviews with emabassies etc? [ CAN only advise about Oz visas - lots of paperwork, fees and minor glitches but most get there in the end.] If so, how long do you think it would all take? [FOR a spouse visa of any kind - three months minimum - then add a couple of weeks for every minor glitch.] As far as I know he hasn't started this process, but has told her he will marry her very soon in LOS, and she is expecting to be able to return to go home wiith him [SHE is thinking like most TGs - once I am wife I go with husband where he go.] I think maybe he is stringing her along. Maybe his intentions are good, but I smell a rat. [AND this is the way to do that - string her along - set a wedding date well in advance for a wedding that effectively means nothing and then if pushed to the visa application process - use the process to further string her along - don't sign something - don't provide something - and delay - in the case I know of it all adds up to a couple more years of cheap, mostly exclusive Thai pussy and that guy is a Pommy to.] Enjoy.

Thank you my friends, f*** him! I talked to her tonight she says 'maybe not'. The little boy in me is very happy. However, I really would never stand in the way of a good new life for her, but I think she smells a rat also. All further input will be appreciated. I will report back. Cheers, Liam

To clear the air on this issue the oldest post that still exists on the BTF Forum was made by toorist at 7:35 am on Aug. 28, 2001: Oldest Existing Post I undertook this project to help further the condition of mankind and for the advancement of pure knowledge (whilst dipping into the seemingly endless trough of money for useless research). This project was conducted using a proprietary method that was extensively researched and developed over several seconds using a substantial grant from the UNCHR (which although the amount used is classified I can say it was easily in the range of 8 figures). And if you are still interested the second oldest existing post was made 40 minutes later by Big Stick: Second Oldest Existing Post Now that this has been revealed you can resume discussing whatever silly topic you were talking about...
