I was at patpong the other night and decided I would rather have a massage. there is a massage place next to the Blue Electric Bar. The girls were really good, but they told me that the massage was 2000. Knowing how patpong works and from personal experience I thought it was too low a price and somehow I would end up getting screwed.
I have never been to possadian and wanted to try so I got a taxi driver, told him to put the meater on, and told him to go to possadian. He said ok, then I asked how long it would take and he told me an hour. Is this for real. 1 hour? I hindsight I wonder if he lied to me because possadian wont pay him commission?
Anyway I didnt want to spend an hour there and back so I told him a place I heard to be good called J1. He went there and it was a pretty big place, I had no idea if he would get ommision so my plan was to leave if I saw him speak to the people at the front door. I made sure he left and went in, no knowing if he drove back after I went in.
Anyway they told me 3500 for 2 hours plus 500 for vip room. I was hessitant but said ok cause I didnt know where the hell I was and I did not feel like traveling anymore, plus it looked like a solid selection.
As soon as I got there I was like, how the hell could this be the VIP room. It was smaller than a regular room anywhere else. It took 15 minutes to get the manager and then all he said was he swore that it was the vip room. Man if this was vip, regular must be a closet.
So then I just accepted it and decided to concentrate on the girl. I noticed that she seemed really young, I asked her how old and she told me 18. It made me pretty unomftable, I really wasnt feeling it becase I thought there was a 50/50 shot she wasnt even 18. Called the manager who said I couldnt have another girl at that point, so I told him no I think below 20 is eillegal in BKK, even though I know its not. He finally said yes and I got another girl. over 35 minutes was already gone. He said ok you can start over and get the whole 2 hours. After subpar service, the girl said we were finished after 1 hr 20 minutes. She showed me the managers ticket and the bastard lied and did not give me the whole 2 hours.
I walked out and there were 2 taxi drivers. 1 told me he wanted 300 baht to get back to mmy place, then the other 1 told me 250. I walked into the street where there were prob 8 taxis and got one. The fare cost 59 baht.
Bottom line stay the hell away from J1. They are the seediest people I met in bkk so far. Horrible

1. It can take an hour to get to Poseidon from Silom at the moment; the Amazing Fun Park makes traffic horrendous on Ratchada while Ratchaprasong way past WTC (Central World) is jammed frm the beer garden
2. Yep, well overcharged - but you could have negotiated, presumably knowing from this board that this is a known commission payer, and what the real rates are
3. You chose the girl yourself presumably - possibly too young, but if so why did you choose her?
4. Taxis have nothing to do with running the establishment
I can't help but feel (having never had a problem at any MP) that "they saw you coming" and you didn't put up much of a fight! Ironically, after all the comments about Japanese and so on; you can hardly blame shoddy business people from assuming farangs have too much $$ and no sense, after your little episode here!
Next time, be prepared to negotiate and do some hoemwork; or you will be in the same position again.
I think J1 are fine.

It looks likem, "NeverbeentoBKK" was in Bangkok for the first time and got the "treatment" that so many get the first time.
Rather than take the taxi to J1 from Patpong, use the BTS, switch at Siam and go to Phaya Thai, walk about 500 feet and go into J1. Then, J1 will charge you 2000baht or less because no pay for taxi driver. If they try and "over charge" anyway just walk out and go to CP-2 further up the street, opposite side. J1 isn't too bad. I like it there. But MP formerly known as Osaka is my cup! Will go again, in a couple of months!
When you keep going, you find more and more treasures until it is really so easy and inexpensive!

Or even less time by motorcycle taxi  No need to go to the fun park then either; all the thrills of the fair on 2 wheels

On my first visit to Bangkok, I found the city very daunting as I am sure most other first time visitors do.
I got a taxi to CP2 but the driver said I drop you off (CP1) J1 and walk over bridge, fair enough.
I got out the taxi and was soon pounced on by the J1 papasans, "CP2 No Open, come come"
Fortunately I have been round the block a few times so I ignored their pleasantries and had a very nice 2 hours at CP2.
Some of the Bangkok taxi drivers think they are being clever telling you a place is closed, if they were more straightforward they would get a bigger tip, off me anyway.
