If I am not mistaken, Darlings and Chao Phraya charges 15% surcharge for using credit cards. By doing this they try to 'discourage' you from using credit cards at their MPs.
However, be careful where you use your credit cards, especially at MPs, karaoke lounges,night clubs,escort agencies,etc.
I had a very bad experience manay years ago. I used my credit card at one of the MP opposite the Central Plaza Hotel in Chiangmai. After this, I will find many billings in US $ for months in my credit card statements. Someone had used my credit card particulars to pay for surfing porn sites.
So brothers be warned !!!!!!!!!

Hi, just curious. Some one from AMEX THAILAND offer me "Charge Card" AMEX and "Credit Card" AMEX. Which one is better? As in my opinion Charge Card means you have to pay all bill statement full on the due date, but credit card mean you can pay only at minimum payment but full payment will be nice. Is that correct?
Well as I know mostly place in Thai can used credit card, but beware for buying computer equipment / electronic equipment because some store will add surcharge 3%. If going to cafe better use cash (I mean real cafe that offer cake or small food).

AMEX Thailand website http://www.americanexpress.co.th will give you more detailed information on both charge card and credit card (recently on offer). You can even downloads forms from their website.
MP's and Air ticketing agents charge a surcharge but never knew that buying computer equipment / electronic equipment will be charged. I buy all my computer equipments from pantip and they never surcharged me.

Well for small shop ussually they ad surcharge. Last time I bought AirCard from small computer shop (thought Fujitsu Agent) said they will charge 3.5% if I bought with credit card. But I refuse, better got 20 Baht from ATM rather 3.5% from AirCard price 17900 Baht that will charge me 600 baht.

So far no problems. Probably because my card has such a lame credit limit.

I would like to underline the charges that Visa (UK) make. They charge a 3% transaction fee - this is supposdely to cover the cost of exchange rates.
Ha! 3% is outrageaous for an instantaneous money transfer. I paid my dental bill with my card and then saw that it had cost me 30 USD for the privilege. If I could I'd do something about it!
