I suppose you are right. Strangely enough my 2 bad experiences with taxis were not even related to MP's. But overall, considering the number of taxi rides I have taken, the service has been good.

IMHO, you gotta try them all. ÝOn my only 2 visits to BKK, I have tried Mirage, Poseidon, and Nataree. ÝI came away satisfied from all 3. ÝHowever, on my last visit, I could only choose one MP, so I went back to Nataree. ÝI thoroughly enjoyed my time with nr. 56! ÝCan't comment on anal, did not try. ÝBut something tells me it was available if I tried, just one of those intuition things. Also I read posts about nr.56 talking to herself, however during my time with her she was guiet. I paid 2000 Bht.
About Nataree, they have 3 entrances, make sure you enter the massage entrance on the right (facing the building). ÝOther entrances are for Karaoke and Thai massage (i think).
I caught a cab from Sukhumvit to Nataree, cab driver didn't know where Nataree was or didn't understand my pronounciation. ÝI told him Ratchdapisek road and directed him to Nataree from there. ÝNataree is just after the Emerald Hotel. ÝThe cab driver obviously did not ask Nataree for commission since not sure if he knew where Nataree was. ÝIf in doubt, catch a cab to Emerald Hotel and walk next door to Nataree. ÝWhen leaving Nataree easier to catch a cab at Emerald, unless you happen to catch a cab dropping a fare off at Nataree.
Be aware of traffic congestion. ÝI was leaving Nataree around 4:30pm and got caught in 'stand still' traffic. ÝI eventually got out of the cab after sitting in traffic for an hour and walking to Sukhumvit. ÝI had an idea if I continued walking down Ratchdapisek road, I should cross Sukhumvit. ÝI walked about 30-45 minutes, maybe longer and lo and behold, I ended up at Soi Cowboy. ÝAfter a few beers caught BTS to Nana.

It had just rained, so it was pretty cool. Also, I don't sweat as much as most people, but my shirt was damp. The car exhaust was the same as walking anywhere in BKK. It dawned on me sitting in the cab, BKK cabbies should drive hybrid cars. That would sure cut down on the pollutants, same size as the cabs they use now.
Actually, during my walk, it dawned on me, 'What the f*&# am I doing walking around BKK, not knowing where I am.' Then I happened to pass a police officer at an intersection and asked if I would eventually hit Sukhumvit road and he confirmed maybe 15 more minutes walk. It struck me, that police officer spoke english really well. Then I happened to pass a bus stop with alot of Mormon students, so I figured I wouldn't get mugged. Just kept on walking...
I told my BKK partner about my experience and he thought I was nuts. But I just couldn't stay in that cab, we weren't moving.
Anyone think I should think twice about getting out of a cab like that again?

At the time of day you were walking, I don't see what the problem is. I would only worry after 10:00 pm (if I would worry at all). I have walked in much worse places.
I do sweat a fair amount, and come from a dry climate, but I think the heat and humidity is partly psychological. If you just don't think about it, it's not a big problem. Just take another shower when you get back to the hotel. But it does help if everything you wear is 100% cotton.

Agree with area/time of day. Makes me crazy, sitting in a non-moving taxi. Can also look for motorcycle taxis - motorbikes with guys wearing vests. Bargain hard, get on, tuck in your knees so your legs don't get ripped off as you lane split, and away you go. Helmet they give you is for show only. But you do move.
