A GG bar is a pick-up joint, and the girls are employed as dancers/hostesses. They are also prostitutes of course, but in that respect they operate independently (more or less).
Many MP girls could very easily find work as GGs if they preferred that modus operandi. Their choice, I think.
From my discussions with MP girls in Bkk I've been told
that they make from 20k to 30 k Baht a month . Bar / gogo girls make way less than that, generally.
As the entire business is about making money I'd believe that a working girl's first choice will be a MP .
Also, a girl is more 'protected' at an MP, if her client starts acting weird , she can call in the management .
A bar/ gogo girl has lesser 'protection' especially if she has to visit the appartment of her client.

I'm really learning.
On almost every occasion that I've visited a MP, the mama /papa san has asked me to choose the girl that I want. It is only when I've put in some parameters [tall girl, who can speak english] that the mama/papa san
has come into play with a suggestion . I can recall only one occasion when a papasan strongly suggested a girl to me & I chose a different girl , contrary to the papasan's suggestion . Looking back, I think that the papasan was right that time, because the girl I chose was not that great: good attitude, but a somewhat 'mechanical' session.
As I see it the mama /papa san's main function is to generate profit, this implies that repeat visits by a client
is the paramount consideration - which translates into a first time (visit) happy client.

I am not going to requote what Old Hand has posted, but I agree with his post 100%.
I have also inquired with the females at Emanuelle, Mirage, Honolulu, and Ceasars about the policys of the female having to go with every customer. They all told me that the papasan has a good idea of who the females will go with and who they won't so they do act as a great filter.
If a client happens to pass that filter, then the female can use the "I've got another client soon" excuse and then does not have to go with them.
They did point out that it rarely happens that a female says no.
Also, if the guy has been to the esablishment before and did something to one of the females that the did not like the females will share that info with one another. So, then they might use some sort of an excuse not to go with that person.

Certainly the "vetting" happens, equally certainly it is very subtle and you would never be made aware of it.
Of course it does not become an issue in the majority of instances because relatively few of the MP girls have strongly held views, and will accept almost anyone as a Client (doesn't THAT make you feel all warm and fuzzy guys!).
That said a good Papasan will know his girls, especially those who have their own standards as to what they consider an acceptable Client, and if it becomes necessary he will try to dissuade you from choosing a girl he knows will not like you. "Oh - sorry, Number XX has a booking in half an hour" etc..
You're right of course that one of his functions is to make money for his establishment, but he is not looking to a one off sale, he'd much prefer repeat custom from you, or, if not from you then from your friends to whom you will relate your experience. Suppose he allows you to choose a girl he KNOWS does not like Clients with your particular racial or other attributes, one of 2 things will happen:
1) The girl comes out of the choosebox, sees you and says "no way" or similar and walks away.
or
2) She goes up to the room with you but she is obviousy reluctant and her performance is lacklustre.
In either case you would probably not go back to the establishment, or recommend it to friends; the Papasan knows that and will do all he can to avoid the situation getting to that stage.

True. However, I think the general trend/curve does in fact favor the MP's. I can't speak much about their income levels because I never asked, and I probably wouldn't have taken their answer too seriously anyway.

Yes. In general, I found that most of what I personally considered to be the best looking girls were to be found in MP's. In this case, "trend" is not meant to convey any particular movement over time, but rather a general tendency. I'm sure I could have picked a more appropriate word, but that would have taken more energy - energy better spent fantasizing about Thai girls. ;)
