Like Darling's if you tip 500 baht, they'll ask for 1000 baht. You gave 200 baht more. Did you overpay? If you think her service was worth 700 baht tip, no. If 500 baht tip was what she deserved and you were insulted by her asking, in which you gave 200 baht more, yes.

I've only been to one fishbowl where the tip I offered (which was 500 bt) was not enough for the girl. She claimed she did everything and deserved more. She did do everything. That was true. She was also gorgeous. But she was not good enough for more than 500 bt. I removed the 500 bt bill and replaced it with 2 100 bt bills since she ruined the experience by getting greedy. I also mentioned it to the papasan on the way out the door.

I was in Plaza a couple of months ago, had this girl. Looks was great, service was great. I wasn't in my best form that day, so only one round. I let her massage me while we talked the rest of the session. At the end of it, when I was going to tip her, I took out a 500 B bill, and she said, "oh that's too much, you are so kind, 200 B is enough for me". Okaaay.

I dont think it's rough at all, 500THB tip 25% on top of the base cost sounds pretty good to me, its not a god given right that we must tip, yes she gave good service & deserved a tip, but not too demand how much!!!
Stuff taken 300THB out of her hand I would have taken the 500 out, and then given her a tip of my own "Dont be greedy & arrogant demanding what you want as a tip or maybe you'll end up with jack s&*t)

what I am saying is the tip that DrFaust offered (500thb) was fair and its bad form for the TG to demand more. She doesn't determine the tip we do based on service, intitial price and how much money we can afford! Its an extra, a token of appreciation nothing more nothing less.

I agree that a tip is only an option that a customer / punter should feel no compulsion to make.
However...............
If the lady is good and has provided good sevice, then it is a gentlemanly thing to do.
And if she has given more than a service and has over-stepped the normal boundaries of ordinary provision that the place provides to please you and to give you more satisfaction, then I would say that one would be honour-bound to show one's appreciation in some monetary way.
No...
My point or objection to the exchange was that she was gorgeous and she delivered in full measure.................
The punter was pleased
and wished to reward her
by showing his appreciation
in the giving of 500 baht................................................
My point would be, once given, whatever occurs after that, is something else. The tip should never be taken back either completely or partially.
What was done, was insulting.
Not understanding or accepting that the lady, in her limited English was asking if you could spare a little more, and in fact taking it as spoiling what had gone down pleasantly before, maybe reflects a different need in the punter to either insult or humiliate.
I don't care for that.
We all know that these ladies are trying to earn a living as best they can.
Aren't we all, in our own way ?
Have you never asked for a pay rise ?
Or, having been offered a job with a particular salary, have you not entered into negotiations to be paid a little bit more for your work ?

I do agree with you comments around taking back the money and in all seriousness given a similar situation I wouldnt take back any money rather inform them that 500THB was all I was willing to give. I don't think drawing an analogy between requesting a pay rise and asking for an increased tip is valid.
If he had have offered 100thb for tip I can understand her being upset if she have put in extra effort (even this being the case I dont think it is appropriate to ask for more) But he didnt he gave her 500thb which I believe is a fair amount for the 1-2 hrs he spent with her, now maybe if it was an all nighter then he could have give 1k.
IMHO he was fair in his Remuneration and gave sincerely what he could afford and believed the service deserved......although I don't agree with her request or his handling thereafter...
