Hello gents,
This thread has outstanding quality posts. Thank you all. I learned a lot about the basic social interaction quality of falang punters in TH (and perhaps beyond in SEA). It seems for most of them their being equal human beings is pay to get laid without saying hello to each other when more occasionally than regularly meeting in a venue serving that purpose. The one who initiates ‘hello’ does 9 out of 10 times seem to get instantly killed with the eyes of the addressed. Simply reply: 'hello' or even defensively add 'may be talk to you later ok?' seems to be beyond the basic vocabulary of most falang. Is that not at least slightly sad for that race especially since their Asian hosts commonly seem to welcome them with most polite respectful greetings? Do you think such attitude amongst falang is a positive signal to their Asian hosts? In their observation of a minority amongst them, does such not implicitly and silently lower the basic human decency rating of falang in general? Oh decadency of the Roman Empires, reducing all to greed for fulfillment of basic human needs in exchange for Imperial coins: I love it.

I dont care! I never said I did care.. I said some people in this world are just plain rude people! boring losers.
and the OP ran into a few of them in thailand. and I said sure.. becuase there are many here too!!
you will even read on this board from mongers who hate to see the losers in the beer bars! they are everywhere in this world! im not saying everyone in thailand or you.. or posters on this board or anyone.

I live in korea and have done so for 8 years..
and I am a member of a forum in the EXPATS korea sites
and I tell you.. there are plenty of foreigners on there who fit the discription.. they expect out standing service from the locals, and complain about everything from their white woman wives, to the locals!
but I always ask them one thing!!
would you treat a korean as well as they treat you here in korea???
Koreans alwats take foreigners out for dinner, are great hosts, pay for the dinners, make friends easily, always kind and try to help you as they can..
do you think a foreigner would do the same to a korean walking down the street?
same as thailand.. I think the thais are more hospitable to us than we are to them in our countries! but so many people still whine about a coulpe bht or some service!
thats what the point is!! some people are just plain rude!

Hey now, stay on-point. The original post explicitly mentions shooting the shit with strangers in the soapies. I think almost anyone would respond cordially to an innocuous 'HI' or 'hello' from a stranger. Don't confuse the issue here. Also, don't know why bar-sulkers are getting dragged in to this either. We keep to ourselves and mind our own business.
