I'm sure there is a saturation for being found attractive, even for these girls. Maybe she just had a bad day, and wanted to just kick back and NOT be picked up on -- so you just had bad timing.
These girls, just like all of us, are just human (however hard that concept is to grasp for some people), and sometimes prefer to not be treated like f***bots.
I would have just told her that I am only interested in buying a pretty girl a drink, and do some small talk, and that since she prefers to be left alone, I will respect those wishes - tell the bartender to get the lady whatever drink she wants, and told him to put it on my tab (or just given him 2,000 Baht to cover it) - and made sure she had my phone number.
Almost guaranteed that you would have received a text message within 24 hours -- if not within 10 minutes.

Actually, some of their regular customers may just pay the barfine for their company. So, being truthful in this situation is not a bad thing at all. And in the case of my friend, she is a freelancer, so no worries about barfines.

I'm relieved to see I won't need to risk an OD on holy water... DD, would you give that girl 4000 bht if she had poured the drink on your head, and perhaps 8000 if she had her local moped riding friends beat you up outside the club ? coz really, to come to such an extreme she must be having a really bad day.
Seriously, why caution such a rude behaviour ? Very bad form IMO.

At 6pm in a deserted Spasso my guess would be that she had a bad moment/day and just wanted to chase you away... Not sure about the mens thing at all... Don't you ever take that personally... Based on the first impression (state of drunkenness (hers!), some inviting vibe in her answer or not etc.) my reaction would have been something between a polite "Ok, bye bye" and beginning a conversation...
We all are fed up with our jobs every once in a while for one reason or another, aren't we?

You're not really what one would call 'good with people', are you?
In all fairness, I can fully understand if 2,000 baht represent a make or break financial situation to you, and thus such a waste of the results of weeks of savings would appear like a horrible mismanagement of funds -- when it would have been much better spent on some other jism recipient. I mean, how dare I show sympathy to the girl (gasp) and treat her nicely.

Not relative to the amount involved Daffy, I don't know why you caution rude behaviour in girls. Perhaps that's the way you like to be treated, hence you might be even more generous if the treatment is worse, but in most industries customers and management expect the hostesses to behave politely. I would go ballistic if I had some staff adress a customer like this and one of the reasons I patronize MPs is you don't hear from the girls working there the kind of profanity FLs and BGs regulary bark out.
Yet, seeing how you react, I understand those girls stick to this foul behaviour.

Dunno why the girl was in Spasso at 6pm but it's usual to see hookers there going for expensive drinks and apparently not looking for a customer. Spending in this club must be a consecration for a succesful isaan hooker in their "How to give a good head in BKK " manual.
