This property is on the market for sale to developers for demolition and renovation. It is overpriced and the market is contracting so it will probably not trade anytime soon. If it does not sell, re-launching Mona Lisa will be a challenge. Maybe unlikely.
Closing before a sale is confirmed would not have been smart, so maybe it's closure was simply a matter of it's failure to compete.
It is pretty tattered and torn, far from it's high water mark when I first went there in 1971 as a teenager.
