I just got back from Bangkok where I checked out some new places. Among them was Utopia which has been praised by members of this forum on several ocasions. My own experience was mixed: It was on a Tuesday afternoon at around 4 o'clock and the papasans seemed to be busy with regular customers. First of all there was no greeting and no gesture of welcome. I sat down and ordered a drink. 30 minutes passed and not even one single papasan stopped by or even looked at me. I asked the servant if she could call someone for me. 2 minutes later she came back and said that no one was available. I felt rather puzzled. Upon further insisting and begging (I used all my Thai knowledge) one of the papasans eventually came by and asked me which girl from the fishbowl I would be interested in. Feeling rather uneasy I made him sit down and explained to him that it was my first-time in here. After having given him a small tip he became talkative, saying that foreigners (+ extra 500 Bts.) are not welcome anymore as they used to show up in large groups. According to him Utopia girls prefer asian looking men. So I took it. Not daring to lose his face, he recommended me a girl which I refused to take because of her looks. Instead I chose another one which turned out to be a starfish. The rooms are quite basic and not very attractive, rather cold and clinical. After the session I made my way up to the models lounge which offered the best selection I have ever seen in my life! I would go back there because they know me now. Just this for newbies: Don't be suprised if your first-time visit there will me a struggle just as mine was...

I avoid paying falang surcharge unless absolutely nescessary - SriRacha Tiger Zoo for example.
The comments that tourists used to show up in buses & are thus unwelcome highlights the fact that most Thai's are incapable of running anything more complicated than a somtom wagon when it comes to business acumen.
It would be like telling your friend - I have these salmon nets across the river - but they keep on getting jammed up with fish - so I waded out to the middle & cut some holes with my knife. It works so much better now. I almost never have to get off my dead ass & haul in the fish.
Illustrates why the Chinese went through here like shit through a Christmas goose. A) Industrious B) Intelligent

An excellent argument, apart from the fact that every single entertainment complex type massage parlour is Thai Chinese owned and in general have been profitable from the first month they opened.

Ihave not been here since August, but at that time the prices were 2500 for the left fishbowl,2000 for the right fishbowl,and 2400 for the sideliners. For each there was an additional 500baht farang surcharge. I have been there about a dozen times, have taken one left fishbowl,one right fishbowl, and about 8 sideliners. The left fishbowl was excellent,the right was average, and the sideliners were good to excellent.All had no qualms about two shots, in fact number 400 quickly said 3 was OK. While giving a bbbj number 400 saw me watching her with my head on the pillow,stopped and said let me help you, and got another pillow so I could see better.My experience with the sideliners was half would give a bbbj, and the ones that did were girls who previously worked as sideliners at Poseiden or Copa Cabana. There is also a model lounge upstairs, the prices quoted were 3000-6500 plus a 500 farang surcharge.A few of the models had the looks that would qualify them for the Q or S price range category in Poseiden, but I thought that most were no better than the sideliners downstairs.

I have browsed through some of the photo albums
upstairs and have noticed that a few did work
at Poseidon. Some of the 3400 ones at Poseidon
were now costing 4400 here.
I still have not partaked here at Utopia because of
the rude behavior of the Mamasans upstairs. I don't
know what the deal is but I'll just take my money
back to Poseidon or Champs Elysee.
