I wasn't meaning to imply that you impaled any differently in a bar to an oily or soapy.
I was more looking at the customer's perception of the lady and the setting.
In a soapy or oily, they can start early. In some, maybe in the morning. and in some, maybe not finish until midnight or two in the morning.
For her whole time there, she is on call to deliver a service. So, at a stretch, a lady in a soapy or oily might be able to do three, four, five or even six guys.
A go-go dancer arrives at six or seven or later and dances. She may have a customer ST or LT and then she can go home. Those that return, return to wait for a friend. But admittedly some, a few, do return for seconds. But still it is less than a popular soapie or oily girl volume.
As for other bars, everywhere is different. You may get one girl in an ordinary bar who never gets bar-fined or laid or even impaled. In the same bar, there might be one girl that the guys are scrambling over themselves to get to.
I know. I've been crushed many a time as the rush of guys stampeded over me in pursuit of a rarity.
As for what the girls have to put up with, the oily or soapy being the softer option for the lady may also not be so accurate. But generally I would agree with you that the soapy or oily is a softer option in relation to customer treatment.
Management treatment of course is something entirely different and that is another big reason why girls move so often in pursuit of a 'good' place to work.
Another factor is how much the mafia or police ( interchangeabe) have a handle on the place and extract the freebies for friends and family. If the girl wants to keep her job, she opens up.
If not, she moves on.

I have been with many in Poseidon, LB, Tarawadee. girls that have little or no experience with the operations and setup of the soapy; can't even wash you up correctly.
most are students looking to make a quick amount of money before or during school breaks. Or just needy girls with some bills to pay. Some others are girls that worked in the Karaoke lounges or were the cheer girls at some of the larger establishments with friends that once worked at places.
I remember fondly of girls that worked for 1-2 weeks only and when running into them again (outside of work) out partying or walking around shopping in BKK they usually come up quietly to ask that I not say anything (I would never say anything)
on another note. if your Asian looking (Chinese, Thai, SE Asian probably not Japanese or Korean but I am not completely sure) and your Thai is good and you have made good inroads with the mamasans or just one in particular at certain places with some amount of time; they will be willing to give you access to the newbies that come to work there.
I have on occasion received newbie delivery orders (same price as inside the establishment).... obviously a review of the girl back to the mamasans are necessary

Thanks Papayaman, Voyager and the rest of you guys. Yes, I guess I'll try the cheaper but more specialist places and, depending on the appearance of the girls, I'll decide.
Unfortunately it's true: looks are more important to me than service, as long as service remains of the comparatively high Asian standard (again, IMHO only). Maybe I should be posting this on the Hong Kong section but, to illustrate the point of why service is not THE highest priority for me (not to say that I or anybody could be indifferent to it), I'll briefly mention one rather average time I had there with a girl in HK. She was of course stunning, as well as non-local (she was Japanese), and maybe that was one of a possible number of reasons why she was not really into it (or rather, she was not making an effort to APPEAR being into it). She told me that she liked HK but not the job, and that she was getting ready to return home. These things happen of course, but the point here is that despite this, her mannerisms, her voice, her way of carrying herself, and her service were all extremely refined. This was true even though one could feel the mechanical nature of her performance. The performance itself was sensual enough and satisfying enough. Since looks are my highest priority, I tend to trust the general level of service, when coming from Asian girls, enough to place looks higher than performance.
Interestingly enough I had noticed that also in the UK when, at some point, I had decided that I would be patronising only Asian-offering agencies.
Of course my attitude might change once my expectations increase along with my experience.

nyc boy is right. You will find girls in high end soapies and oilies with one or two weeks induction period under their belt. I would not consider them complete newbies.
I was talking of girls straight off the bus and not having worked in Bangkok nor anywhere else before. Slightly different. And no high end establishment is going to risk their reputation on an untried girl or completely inexperienced girl.
Yes, you'll come across many ladies who do not have the skills required either for massage or for the main purpose of the job, in some instances months or years agter they have begun the job. Or their attitude is just not right.
Attitude is not easily changed.
But skills and experience can be acquired.
As for being in with a mamasan or two, if they are pleasant, I'm sure it can reap many rewards.

Hehe, no worries Joe. And yes, in the end one's results may vary.
My opinion was based on tireless research. The product for sale in oilies and soapies is a mix of plain jane service and less so GFE... although plenty of girls will offer it and will sometimes try to hook a guy into afterhours off campus service as well. The typical bar girl however depends on selling the GFE as her main product, often just for a night, but often in several days to several week packages. During these packages, one of the main selling points is bareback sex.... it's the thing that says 'see, we're boyfriend and girlfriend now... which opens up the avenues to regular payments, regular visits, and potential sin sots.' Over time, this adds up damage wise in terms of non-fatal STD's, which typically snowball into other STD's, etc. On the oily and soapy side, just my opinion, you have far fewer girls who feel the need to invest that much in an encounter. They go for volume and low emotional and physical (safe sex wise) investment. BBBJ's are about the extent of a soapy gal 'getting into' her work.
As for being fresh off the bus, one may find a few, but by far the majority who enter the foreigner targeted nightlife venues have been around the block more than a few times before they even get off the bus in Bangkok, Pattaya, or Phuket.

checked out Poseidon for the first time in a year. still impressive amount of ladies in the model lounge. not really my spec on most though.
found the mamas to be a bit pushy, strange since they have seen me before in the last few years, but then I was serviced by former Ma Nutt - over at Copa now (see review there)
stayed for a look, with some friends and headed out. taking the lift down to the 2nd floor (as usual) the bowl about half full - but never to my liking.
