Recently I have visited a few MPs and I noticed that almost all the rooms have a TV. And the first thing the girl does when she enters the room is turn on the TV and find a Thai Soap. This TV watching annoys me. During the massage she watches the Soap and sometimes she laughs or is so involved with the Soap that she just forgets she is giving a massage (Chavalla girl). The few times I was in a room without a TV I found the girls more entertaining and there was more physical en verbal interaction.
And then there is the porn channel. This might be helpful if you have a boring sex live and you need this to stimulate sex drive, but here you are with a beautiful girl that you choose out a fishbowl where 60 other girls were swimming, you have your fantasy right in front of you!
So here goes; we donít need the TV - most of us can't understand Thai anyway - Ýbut the TV is there only for the benefit of the girl.
It distracts her from a boring massage (you're #6 of the day) and takes away the necessity to talk to you. And the idea behind the porn is that there is a possibility that you get aroused more so she wonít have that much trouble with you.

The TG usually hand me the remote for picking. I put on the Vh1 or MTV channel for some music. Anything but those Thai soap opeas which have a trance effect on the TG's

IMHO if an MP girl just turn on the TV as soon as she gets into the room and wanted to see that crap, the "starfish alarm" should be enabled. Take it easy, that happens mainly around 9-10pm and might be because she was watching that crap by the time you chose her from the fishbowl.
Just put MTV or any other channel (I like the close circuit one, if any) and keep going. If the girl is showing zero attitude (some of them behave really nasty) just threat to walk out. You will get some response. If you think everything is spoiled already just walk out since you have been there for about 10-15 minutes and then you can request another chick at the reception desk. This can be done.

Snapping on the tube is pretty much standard operating procedure in my experience.... I have always assumed that most customers like it that way (most Thais do, according to the girls I have quizzed).
Just turn the f_cker off... I'm not much on the tube at any time, but have always found it incredible that anyone would want to stare at it when there is a real live lady as an alternative.
Occasionally the lady will whine a little, but I find this is rare once they understand that "off" is your preference. If she does whine, I agree with Pinga that the starfish alert should start to whine too....

I Figured if the girl is happy then it's more likely that sheíll give me a good time. But the most obvious choice is indeed to switch the damn thing off or pick a music channel. I would be visiting BKK for the first time this week and have a number of doubts in Ýmy mind. Would be helpful if anyone would clear them

Generally speaking, if you go to a soapy massage parlor, there is a flat fee regardless of what you do (HJ, BJ, FJ). There is some limited massage at a soapy, but it is usually not a serious massage. The soapy massage usually starts in the bathtub and then moves to a mattress or bed.
At an oil massage parlor, they give you real massage (usually) using lots of oil and then charge for extras (HJ, BJ, FJ) if you want. If you get a body-to-body massage, that usually includes at least a HJ finish.
Some soapy MP open early in the afternoon and others in the evening. Most oil massages open around noon.
The amount you pay includes the room and is charged up front at most places. Tipping to the girl is usually about 250-750 baht.

Most important to know when going to an MP: you decide what happens. This may not be a popular post, but I promise I mean it as helpful:
Deservedly or not, Indians and Pakistanis (and others from the general area), are often referred to a kaeks by Thais, and are prejudged to have strong body odor.
Thais are meticulous about hygiene, shower often, and do not like strong odors. ÝEven Indian food is GENERALLY avoided by Thais, because of its pungent aromas.
So, from the moment you enter, you may experience some reluctance at SOME venues, particularly since they can only see you from the fishbowl, and not notice that you smell just fine. (You do, don't you?)
Actually, I have SOME evidence to make me think that Thais think that ALL foreigners stink. ÝMy last TGF actually COMPLIMENTED me on not smelling bad...
(I'm an American, fair skinned, beefier-than-thou dude, if thou art average. Or slightly above.)
That said, there are MANY Indians in Thailand, and many visitors who have NO problems at all getting service. ÝSo, just be aware of this predjudice, keep cool (literally and figuratively), and smile. ÝYou will go far with a smile.
And some deodorant.
