Hello guys, I tried a search for my hotel but I couldnt find anything.. Im due into BKK on Jan 16th (first time) staying at the Pathumwan princess hotel right next to the MBK shopping center. I read all about Posiedon and other High end MP's but from what I could gather from the map they are too far especially when I am arriving (8pm) im sure the traffic will be horrendous.
I was recommended to visit Plaza Entertainment but im not quite sure what sort of building it really is. Just an MP with rooms or are the other levels for bars/discos? Can I take a taxi from my hotel? I also read about a surcharge..im half chinese half white..but I only speak english.
what do you guys thing? any other suggestions? I hope my hotel has a nice lounge or bar, maybe I can find some girls there if its too late to go out..everything seems to close early while places in HK and macau dont really close.

Probably Chao Praya MP on Sri Ayutthaya Road is closest by.

thanks for the input..i found a site regarding all about CP2 but I am not brave enough to walk there unless ofcourse the taxi will take too long due to traffic.

Obviously it's your first time in Bangkok. Yes, there are traffic jams at times. But the distance is quite short. Even if the traffic is heavy (Phaya Thai Road is usually not that bad during the non-rush hours) it will take you no longer than 20 minutes or so.
Get over this 'traffic obsession' and enjoy life in BKK. I do for over 20 years....

HKferry: You can walk from your hotel to the skytrain without even going down to the lobby. On the desk level, take the door to the 2nd floor of MBK and follow signs to the skytrain. Sheer to the left wherever possible. From National Stadium, take the train to Sala Daeng, exit on the right side and you're in Patpong. Or change at Siam in direction of On Nut and get off at Nana. Alternately, change at Siam to the Mo Chit line, get off at Phayatai and walk to J One or CP 2.
But at the time you are talking you should get a comfortable cab ride to either of these parlors on Sri Autthaya or to Cupidy on Petchburi.
Just for the fun, you could also take bus no. 93 in the street at MBK that will take you for 12 THB to Prince Hotel and Plaza Entertainment, or no. 36 to Huay Kwang and the Ratchada parlors. But that's for the more advanced. Have fun.
