Anyone has recomendations on the best Thai restaurant(s) along Sukhumvit near Majestic Suites? Or is it better to eat in the restaurants in some nicer hotels? Emphasis on cleaniness, comfort and taste, prices are no concern.

Try 'Baan Khanita', either on Sukhumvit 23, just outside Soi Cowboy or better on Soi Ruam Rudee, Ploenchit Road. The one on Ruam Rudee is 5 minutes from the Majestic. Food is great, setting and service too. The restaurant is also used as gallery and makes it a very nice restaurant. Normally one of my favourites when in town. Prices are a bit higher than average, but absolutely not over the top.

Thanks for the info. Manuel bkk. Where is Soi Ruam Rudee, Ploenchit road as related to Sukhumvit road. Is it close to Soi 3 or Soi 4? How do I get there from Majestic?

It is a bit "touristy" last time I was there, but the "Cabbage and Condoms" is a nice place to eat. Not sure the Soi number, but just off Suhk RD. You will need to ask someone the Soi number, but it is quite well know so should not be a problem.
But the best places I have found are always know to the Thai's, follow their recomendations and you rarely have a bad meal.

When browsing through Asia Books last year, I noticed they carry a lot of Thai cookbooks. I didn't buy any, but now that I'm back in the States, I wish I had. So .... does anyone have books they have used and can recommend? I'm not sufficiently educated about Thai cooking to know if I am looking at a good or bad cookbook. Titles and/or ISBN numbers would help me to order by internet or locally.

When leaving Majestic, turn left, pass Soi Nana, pass Soi Zero, next Soi to the left is soi Ruam Rudee. This is the first Soi at Ploenchit Road which is the extension from Sukhumvit. After entering the Soi it is approximately 400 Meters on the left side of the Soi. By taxi it is 5 minutes.
They advertise daily in the Bangkok Post.

If you want to experience a vast array of Thai Food, just go to the Buffet at the Marriot Hotel....just around the corner from where you are staying...Soi 2 and Sukhumvit. It costs about $12 US, but it is incredible.
They also have an inhouse Thai Restaurant that is great as well as a great Chinese Restaurant also.

Cabbages and Condoms is Soi 12.
Baan Khanita is my personal favourite, there's not much to make me want to travel all the way to that area for a meal....far better for me locally.....but Baan Khanita is the exception.
