JJ has found a new fav spot! Not only was soi 33 somewhat a new place for hanging out in a way that pleases me. I am so tired of go-gos that I can hardly enter them any more. More relaxed barlife with "extras" is more to my liking and I think soi 33 is the place I will be found many days and trips to come!
For various reasons I ended up there last week to check out a fairly new place called Livingstones, located on the left side (if coming from Suk) and after Novotel. A sign of good size makes it difficult to miss. Inside was a big surprise! A small oasis with great atmosphere! A nice pool surrounded with "green growing things" and tables to place your behind on..... sure is a nice surrounding and for me a clear alternative to all the "other places". And no - I dont work there so this is a non-sponored "plug"! Also saw some pretty faces in the surroundings, dont know if "working" there or not but worth finding out!
Food is just great and since I love a good steak I can honestly say that this is one of, - if not THE best I have had in BKK! Really thick lovely imported sirloin of top quality cooked exactly as you want it and with lots of extras! Superfresh separate sallad table. The guy running it is from Scandinavia and sure knows what he is doing. And no - I am NOT saying this because we share the same lingo. Very nice person though and easygoing - have a chat!
The restaurant also has an african menu which really looked interesting and I will try that next month.
In an another adjacent restaurant they serve thai food. The set-up looked just great and very inviting - seems they have also received good reviews in other forums.
Livingstones is also totally refurbishing itīs upper floor where approx 18 rooms of very good standard will be located in a months time. I had a chance to take a look and sizes of rooms plus extras made me make an immediate reservation for next trip! Some rooms have 2 person jacuzzis!! What can not happen in them!! Ahh! Plus wireless broadband internet, all satellite channels etc. Nice big windows overlooking the poolarea.
Small and coozy and good standard. Easy choice for me at least!
So guys - give that place a try when you are hungry for a really great steak!! And check out their site:

We considered having a RT here at one time, because it has a pool and would be fun to get some TGs swimming. It didn't happen, and then they closed. But now that they are back open under Livingston's, perhaps it is time to re-visit.
What were the quality of the girls when you were there?

I think it would be a PERFECT place for an RT! Very good suggestion! Actually the boss told me they had a real bally-hoo the night before with a lot of dipping in the pool..... did not ask for exact details since JJ is such a shy humble viking boy..... but it sure sounded like they had a lot of fun!
Charge for rooms I would guess to be around 4000 baht level - but really well worth I would say considering the surroundings, size and standard of rooms and ambiance. Just imagine having a strike of fortune at the very nice "The Office" bar across the street, bringing her back for a "double-dip" - meaning the first one is in the jacuzzi!!
As I understood the info I picked up is that they openened again with a total new staff and set-up only as short way back as the start of january. Personally I believe they will be a real hot-spot if able to keep up the good work! Go see!
There were not many ladies there when I visited since it was quite early - but what I saw made me want to come back - and I will in 3 weeks! There are about 60 bars around this area so I dont think thereīs a lack of game to be hunted down!!

I stopped by a few weeks ago on my last trip. It's certainly a nice looking place. The sports lounge is a comfortable place for a drink. It's got a pool table and a few flat screen TVs. The girls are friendly, but not a lot of talent there IMO; met a very perky girl named Louny (she pronounced it Looney  ). Was quoted 1500B BF. Took a rain check.
Ton-Thong is a decent Thai restaurant, better IMO than Oam Thong up the street. Over the course of a week had several dishes from Ton-Thong delivered to me and some friends at Renoir across the street. The Raw Fresh Shrimp salad was excellent. Had good crab and catfish dishes.
Definitely a good spot for a RT!

Vikings were from Scandinavian region.
The guy who opened Livingstones may be Scandinavian.
But if you see the logo of the place in the URL, it is clearly an African landscape with elephant and a waterfall. Dr. Livingstone named the waterfall Victoria Falls, after his Queen in the UK.
That was when Queen Victoria was queen of England.

The African motiff is left over from the last restaurant that was there (Timbeveti). It was a "true" African restaurant, owned by a South African.

Now now...... just relax a bit... watch the thais: "reason to have a party? Letīs have one!" The "framework" may differ - but the outcome probably is the obvious: some people getting together, eat drink and perhaps see some lovely faces... canīt go wrong IMO?! Especially not in LOS.
Tacky?? Thatīs unfair in my objective view. Itīs a nice place - much better than many hangouts. Good food, drinks and nice service. Why dont you just have a look before making a prejudgement?
