LOS has a decent amount of Japanese expats and tourists. One of the big passion for them are the Ramen places. In Japan there are magazines that just specialize in coverage of this food item. Since I used to travel great deal to Japan I developed a taste for them. Here are 2 places that I have tried which are not too bad. If you know of some others that you have liked and would like to share info, please let us know.
Ramentei - favorite of many Japanese expats and have been around for quite a few years. Located on Suk Soi 33/1. Good Curry Ramen, gyoza, fried rice. Ask for the picture menu if you are unsure what to order.
Sagano Cafe - New Ramen place just opened approx 3 months ago. Fancier place on Suk Soi 55 (thonglor) sub soi 13 (turn left at 1st intersection). Small place and kind of hard to find. Found the noodles to be quite good, didn't like the mabodon (rice with spicy tofu on top, tasted pre-made) so recommend just sticking with the ramen.

Can confirm Sagano is doing well, so well that the owner is planning to open another branch in the lower sukhumvit near his g-club.

Heard about this place called Yamagoya also on Thonglor soi 13 on Truevision TV. Anyone has tried it and if it is good? It looked pretty good on TV but I never been there and wasn't sure where it is.

Tried Yamagoya today and it was pretty good. It is next to Sagano Cafe. The style of ramen is different than Sagano since it is more japanese. It's strange, everytime I ate at Sagano my stomach always feels funny afterwards. I might have an allergy to one of their ingredients.

I recommend that you go to Korean town (soi 24 or very near) where King&I massage palour located on the ground floor.
There are many korean restaurants sell Korean Ramen (the name is Shin Ramyun=ramen) which would be the most delicious Ramen in the world.
when Japanese people come to korea the thing they always buy is a box of 20 Shin Ramens (Shin mean spicy).
I also have tried many Jap. ramens and asian ramens while travelling but the best one is Korean Shin Ramyun (Ramen).

I get ramen down on soi 33 fairly often. Sorry, cocoroso I have tried the Korean ramen (both in Korea and here in BKK) and I still prefer the Japanese version of Chinese ramen. But the Korean ramen is good for a change every now and again. Actually to me ramen is a winter food and for some reason just does not feel right eating it in Thailand – too hot outside.
The one thing I find hard to find are shops that put corn in the ramen. Also many of them are too light on the chopped onion (lek).

Agree with the original post about Ramentei, other locations are in soi Thaniya and some small sub soi off Suriyawongse as well....

In Central Department store at Phuket there is also an Ramen restaurant,
Went there last weel for the first time and was happily surprised.
Good food for not much money.

I think in Phuket Central Festival Mall there is an Oishi Ramen place. It is ok. The same as you find all over BKK. For REAL ramen you need to go to Ramentei. Otherwise, you are just getting a Thai version of the real thing. It isn't too bad, just not as good as the original.
