Some of you may remember that in the soi 10 beer bar area was a good restaurant named Malaysia Aunty.
I just got into Bkk and a friend told me that they had opened on soi 8 .. I am happy to say that they have.. she even got some money for the destruction of her restaurant..
It is on soi 8, first soi to your left as you enter.. there is a sign, but you have to look.. enter the soi and go down maybe 50 metres and it is on the right.
very good food and much more reasonable than most of the other Indian places ..opens at 11 in the morning and closes at 11 a night..
a good idea might be a visit to the Alley Cat Bar (second soi on the right ) for a beer and a BJ and then to AM for a nice meal..

Oaktoad, thank you for the information. I love Indian food, and will definately go to Malaysia Aunty when I return. Must pay a visit to Alley Cat as well. I've written em in my notebook. Thanks again for the information.

been there once, very hard to find as it is in an off soi of soi 8. certainly very difficult to survive considering that there are 3 othe rindian restaurants immedeately around this venue in a much better location!

The other 2 indian places are fancy places that look like they would cost an arm and a leg (They don't even post their prices outside for christ's sake). Aunty's should do fine, can't wait to get back there.

just back from Bkk. Ate at Auntys three times.. very good food and reasonable.. the other places in the area are considerably more expensive..
Aunty opens at 10:30 and it is a good place for a reasonable lunch .. I really like the chicken masala and the masala dosa .. yummy, can't wait to go back there on my next trip.
not hard to find if you know where it is .. go down soi 8 and about 25 metres down there is a small soi to the left.. there is a sign for the restaurant, but just head down this little soi about another 25 metres and it is on your right..
worth the trouble to get there.

A few of us ate here plus a kleptomaniac, the other night. I would have to say that this was the nicest indian food I have ever had, very tasty and the price is even better. If it is hard to find, the better, we can keep it busy enough from recommendations on this board and keep it from being spoilt.

Wow! I'm glad I found this thread...
I LOVE Malaysia Aunty! Masala Dosa to DIE for, and very reasonable.
I was VERY concerned that the Soi 10 debacle had done her in. This is GREAT news.
As for Soi 8, otherwise known as 'the Gauntlet', at least it is centrally located, and now comprises what I call a 'Module' - you can get many of your appetites satisfied in a small geographical 'module' - food, massage, BJs...
Just watch out for the bar-beer girls, and NEVER BF one, unless you want to know the TRUE meaning of 'the Gauntlet'...
