I likes me some fish. Actually, anything from the sea. Can anybody suggest a solid Suk area seafood-friendly restaurant that won't break the bank? Thanks in advance for your replies.

My vote goes to Savoy Seafood chain....I like to take friends and clients to Lumpini Night Bazaar and get a good seafood dinner at the local branch...not a fancy place, but good quality and very reasonable prices!

When the seafood urge bites, I go to a seafood restaurant on Rama IV between Sukhumvit 22 MacDonalds and Sukhumvit 26 Carrefour. No idea of the name... it is in Thai... Very no frills restaurant but good value. Does a great business and is open well into the wee morning hours.

Most definitely do *not* go to Seafood Palace. By Asok station on Suk, on the even side of the street. I ended up spending 1300 bht for a terrible lunch. The upside? You pick live sea creatures out of an aquarium. But who wants to pay 3000 bht for a lobster? (which does not include the cooking fee, or any side dishes.) 180 baht for a plate of vegetables in oyster sauce. Need I say more? Yes. No menu, so I didn't figure this out until a bit late. I was shown a 890 bht bill before the cooking started, and I assumed that was a total (and a pricy one at that). But als, that was just the cost of the f*cking crab itself. And the result? Crab curry. Crab, smothered with curry, but with the shell still on. What a goddamn mess. I had expected that any crustacean served in a heavy sauce would first be SHELLED.

I haven't tried this one, but we drove past last night. It's actually spelled Savoey. Telling the taxi "Suan Lum" would seem to be the ticket.
