Yes, JW Marriott is very good. Side entrance, and can conveniently pick up a good cigar and a piece of cheesecake on the way up to your room. Another high-end option is Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit, even better than JW Marriott IMHO. Street-level entrance, pass Rivas and a straight shot to the elevators past some shops. Check-in is on the floor above, so the WoS is very painless, and the rooms are a little nicer, too. But no German restaurants in either.

Isn't "very good German [food]" an oxymoron? Every time I have been to Germany, I usually ate at Italian restaurants, even when I was with other Germans.

I was going to mention that I drank a lot of very good German beer while in Germany. German beer with Italian food in Germany was a good combination.

That does sound good, and I'm sure there are many people who don't have a taste for German food. Just don't count me among them. Give me a big, fat, juicy bratwurst mit brot und saurkraut, a little dijon mustard, some potato salad on the side, and I'm in heaven. Oh, that did it. Now I'm hungry. Where can I get a brat in Pattaya quick? Maybe try the Hopf Brew Haus.

thaiaficionado, As you are probably aware, there is a good sized "German Community" and their related businesses along Naklua Road.

Can only second the recommendation of Bei Otto - their Sunday brunch buffet is also excellent.

Thanks for the tip Sanook, I wasn't aware of that since I had never ventured into that part of town. So yesterday, I took a look, and Brau Stube on Nakula Road serves a very tasty bratwurst indeed, which went very well with pad thai on the side. Only wish they had something better than Kraft mustard.

Quote: from thailife on 8:35 pm on Feb. 26, 2009 A side not...... The beer house on soi 11 makes the BEST BBQ pork knuckle. I ate there almost every day. Real German food. If you have a chance, stop by and try it. My only compliant is that the mustart was a little weak. I wish they gace me a choice several different types. But holy shit, was that bbq pork knuckle good.
Never tried one of these before but I like porking so had to go check it out. Arrived at lunchtime & saw some knuckles slowly been cooked in a rotisserie beside the entrance to the restaurant. They certainly looked yummy, but soooo big. I may be big boned but I have a stomach the size of a 51kg TG (may not be the best example as they can eat like horses) so I decided to skip lunch altogether & come back later for dinner I chose the top of the line meal at 390 Baht - the big pork knuckle with saurkraut & potatoes, and a little red cabbage. The knuckle was real yummy, tender meat with plenty of crackling. I was sweating by the end of it though as the meal is indeed large. The mustard is indeed mild thailife said he went there at 9am for a knuckle. That would have looked funny - eating one of these behemouths for breakfast Recommended for hungry carnivores
