again i find a subject on which i agree with bassgod.
i love the food carts.
have my favourite one in patong which i visit most nights on the way back to the room and find the girl is usually hungry as well.
the girl who works there has become a friend and sees me coming and always calls me over.
is disappointed if i decide to not eat occasionally and once really shouted at me when i got food from a different stall.
when i do eat,i always get extra from her.
if i order 4 satays,she will give me 5.
when i leave i always give her a tip of 500 baht[i know people will call me stupid] but i get good service and good food,and as i said she is a friend.
sometimes i sit with her while she works and we just talk.

Captain Falang: You are probably right. That is why I usually give the person that takes my order a 1000 Baht tip and I usually tip the person that clears my table 500 Baht. I know you guys will probably think that the tip should be more but I am usually on a pretty tight budget.

you tip 1500 baht per meal.
where on earth do you eat to justify those tips?.
even when i go to falang restaurants i think i've had an expensive meal if i pay 800-1000 for 2 people.
so i certainly would'nt pay 150% tip.
if your on a tight budget then i suggest trying the thai places where i get a meal for 2 for 90-120 baht.

Badboy: Who says that I did not get any ass. All of the little waitresses at these two places know me and I usually have at least two come over after work and they do not charge me. And they are over 19.
Nokna: You give a 500 baht tip for probably 100 baht worth of satay to the cart vendor. What percent tip is that?
And I am just ficitious ahter reading about your 500 baht tip.

i give the tip on my last night,just for the girl being a friend and giving me good food.
i eat there 2 times out of 3 [maybe] nights and if i pay 30-40 baht a night i think thats a lot.
i give her the tip after 3-4 weeks of visiting her stall,and as i said she is a friend and we have a good time.
she is probably only around 14-15 years old and i feel sorry for the guys and gals that have to do this for the money.
if i give her the tip after a month then it's not so much a day.
but if i went there every night and bought 50 bt worth of food,do you think i would give her 200 bt like you indicate you do.

I just tip at those rates in those two particular restaurants since we do not have them where I come from.

- I certainly would not knock the food carts, - and sure, am a satay fan as well, been buying them off the guy on soi 13 for a dozen plus years, but just be a bit careful where/what you buy, if maybe your stomache isn't accustomed ; e.g. you think the prawns not sold on one night are not re-produced the following night ? - as to tips, well sure blow me out of the water, I give waiters at my favourite restaurants/clubs a 100bt [put it personally in their pocket, then they dont have to share] and think I'm doing well - it must be enough tho, as they still all rush to serve me when I come in ... -
