Many here disagree but NY SteakHouse at JW Marriott is crawling distance from NEP.
Anybody tried PJ's Steak on Suk Soi 31 yet?

Well I can tell you it isn't in Steak One Restaurant... I had the most
expensive steak (~850B$) and it was not very good or tender.

Has anyone tried the Prime restaurant for steak at the Hilton Millennium Hotel? I heard that the former manager of the NY Steakhouse started this place. Since I liked the old NY Steakhouse at the JW maybe this new place might be good too.

Best steak? Well there are quite a few places around and it may change over time. However just a month ago I tried the place on top floor of Landmark and was quite delighted. Very good steaks and you can even get the famous japanese style which is very expensive - approx 5000 b.
If you dont wish to try that top of the line the "normal" steaks are very delightful, service is perfect and the view over town is fantastic. However it is pricy and I spent about 9000 b for 2 persons. Not something you do everyday, but if you want to spoil yourself and that special person, I sure recommend it. Do adapt to a civil dresscode though. Shorts and tanktops not recommended!

btw. "Steak One" is gone. so is "PJ's Steakhouse".
best steak: JW Steakhouse, Suk Soi 2 (4000++)
best value: French Kiss, Patpong 2 (350)
both steaks are cooked to perfection, with nice side dishes.
I like the bistro athmosphere at french kiss and patpong is just a stonethrow away (so is SOL, for those who like it).

Guy's, "home grown" good beef in Thailand is on its way, Udon Uni has imported a number of Australian low-line cattle. Low-lines are perfect for Isaan, now we just need to teach the lazy priks to make "sillage" for the dry months and there should be a good supply of cheap / quality beef 12 months a year.
Isaan is quite suitable for beef,, CHEAP land, CHEAP labour, but as per usual the ignorance and lazy factor is the problem.
Things should improve over the next few years.
