My fav is the Sunshine Cafe - a restaurant/cafe style place just on the inside of the big supermarket, ground level at Siam Paragon.

They have a good range of dishes including fish, lamb etc and all are served with superb salads, (choose your mix), sourced from the fresh produce section of the supermarket. Cost usually ranges fr 250 to 500b. Before I order I usually purchase a small 250 ml bottle of vino fr the bottle shop also located within the supermarket.

Superb food and you can sit up at the side of the cafe and watch the passing parade entering the supermarket.

when I first traveled to bangkok in 1989 there were only 3 american type restaurants, one was derby queen in patpong owned by a john candy type man who said they stood for his autograph for hours in japan, another was bourbon street in washington square which is still there owned by a man from new orleans, the third was a fancy steak house over by the american embassy who's name escapes me. does anyone remember?

The steakhouse was Neil's Tavern on Ruam Radee. The Kobe steak used to be great but I haven't eaten there in several years.

The Derby Queen is still there but the big guy (Big John?) moved to Phuket many years ago and I don't know where he is now.

Bourbon Street is still there and is still run by Doug.

You must have missed the Madrid and Mizzou Steak House on Patpong. Madrid is the oldest bar in the same location in Bangkok. Their SOS is legendary.

Mizzou Steak House

One of my old Favorites

Is that lady boy waitress working there that is flat chested?

Have dinned there for about 14 years but not been back on the last half dozen trips

Thanks for reminding me

I love there Steaks sizzle and the salad is the best!

Have seen many heavy Yakusa walk in and head straight up stairs.

Now the Madrid just down the soi a little oh the memory's.

My Favourite place is Napa on 26. Its incidentally No 1 on tripadvisor at the moment http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g293916-d1846921-Reviews-Napa_on_26-Bangkok.html. Excellent food, wonderful surroundings, top service. Not the cheapest but better value than some other resto's I've been to in Bkk.
