If you like chewing on old shoe leather than I guess you will enjoy Aussie beef. Nothing like USA beef. The USA are experts at breeding fat cows both in women and beef.
The Auzzie's do have excellent lamb.

Australian beef has far exceeded the quality of US beef and the price so that US beef is almost laughed at.
One merely needs to look at the Japanesse imports of quality beef.

I take it that no one has tried the new Prime restaurant at the Hilton Millenium? Well, I will let everyone know as soon as I have tried them. I actually do like the food at Landmark 24 hr cafe which has great caesar salad.

Back to the subject at hand, when given a choice between Aussie and USA beef such as in the JW Steakhouse most prefer USA even though it is more expensive.
Now why is that? Hmm.. for the real reason why I found the answer on the Internet written by an Australian cattle breeder.
Generally the higher the amount of marbling the higher the grade of meat.
In Australia over the last 20 years, we have been educated to eat lean meat. This coincided with the race to breed animals with superior growth rates which has resulted in production of carcasses that do not ‘finish’ well because they are excessively lean.
Excessive leanness results in a meat product which will produce an unsatisfactory eating experience because of lack of juiciness, flavour and tenderness.
Read above "educated" polite word for brainwashed, Mel being a prime example.
So why you are mumbling to yourself while chewing on that old piece of shoe leather that you brainwashed yourself into thinking is the best beef in the world, have a read on how some of the Aussie's are free thinkers and are learning from the Americans and Japanese to produce better beef.

my thoughts on beef are about the same about wine, if you like it, it really doesn't matter what anyone says. I think the Thais do a great job with pork, much better than here in the U.S.
For beef, I recently read an article in Gourmet or one of those about the ultmiate search for the best steak... they ended up in Spain, at a small farm (b&B)...... I will try to find the article, but they stamped it as the best steak in the world. Actually a very interesting piece......
In Los I prefer the Marriott,mostly because it tastes like the steak I eat at home. To many people that may not taste good, but we al lgravitate to tastes we like.
Speaking of good things to eat, I have a whole bunch of chicken wings ordered sor super bowl..... my record is 28 with sides, so I may be in a record breaking mood tomorrow.....
