2 places that are great for steaks. First is the Dubliner on Sukhumvit (between 22 and 24) and the second is CONFUSION on 23.
The Irish bar serves with great blue cheese sauce and the fusion restaurant with massaman sauce... excellent!

chesa restaurante on sukhumvit soi 23 has been awarded "best european restaurant" in bkk several times. steak I had was great.

I was discussing lamb with a chef friend of mine last night and he said that one of the few places you could buy it (and mutton) in Bangkok was the open-air market just before the Indian Buddhist temple on the south side of Si Lom (somewhere around Thanon Pan). There are quite a few Indian restaurants in the area and apparently they drive the demand. I've been told that Thais think lamb 'smells funny'.

If you like lamb then I would recommend 2 places - first is Bourbon St in Washington Square and second is CONFUSION on Soi 23. Confusion serves NZ Lamb Chops provencale - grilled chops with fresh thai herbs and mashed potato. A real treat......

I went to Confusion the other night and I ordered the sirloin steak with red wine sauce, middle done. And I got sirloin steak with mushroom sauce well done. Compared to Confusion, Grittino had better steak.

There is a butcher in Soi 71 I think that sells NZ and Aussie lamb, they sell to the hotels and restaurants.
As for Lamb, the restaurant Guisto (sp) in soi 23 has excellant lamb.
 by the way, can someone tell me what a blue steak is ?? I know blue balls. Is it straight from the fridge or something, a slap and a tickle and on your plate ??
