I recommend a Dinner Cruise.
A good place is Yok Yor ÝMarina Restaurant, located on 885 Soi Somdej Chao Praya 17 ( that's on the Thonburi side of the Chao Praya river, opposite Krom Chao Pier).
The boat leaves at 8.00 pm. You can order food before the boat is leaving.
The cruise takes about 1.5 hours.
First it goes down the Chao Praya. After turning at Saphan Pra Ram 9 the boat cruise the river up to Saphan Pra Pinklao. Turning there an returning to Yok Yor.
The fare is 600 Baht ( if I remember correct).

Like ABC stated before me, it is paramount that your lady is comfortable. So going to a very expensive restaurant is not something you want to inflict on her.
Most likely (assuming she is from humble upbringing) she does not know how to act with al the different pieces of cutlery on the table. Heck, sometimes I do not even know what it is al for.
So save her the embarrassment and let her choose.
As a tip there is this restaurant above the supermarket in soi 5. Traditional Thai food and close to the Skytrain.

Mick, me and my girl used to really like that place, Thai House #2, but last time we were in there the quality of the food was really sub-par. Maybe it was just a one night problem, but we haven't gone back for months. It was just that bad. Shame too because we'd had a few dozen perfect meals there over the last couple of years.
When they were firing on all cylinders the fish dishes were great, the curries were piquant but still farang-friendly and the soups fantastic.
If somebody wants to give it a go at least try to miss the Elvis nights.

This visit of mine was 1.5 years ago, so quality is not something I can vouch for at the moment. At the time I was there it was very good for the money.

I can recommend Isaan Food !
Isaan food is great and nothing makes a TG from Isaan happier than a farang who wants to eat Isaan food instead of farang food.
In May of this year I tried two of these restaurants:
1) Vientiane Kitchen, Suk Soi 36, 100m S. of Suk.:
Great food, in a roofed Baan Lao, i.e., open to the air, Live Issan music and dancers and
2) Bane Lao, on the same sub-soi, turn right at Vientiane Kitchen, 100M west, on the left. Roofed Baan Lao, Live Isaan music and dancers. Food is even better and cheaper too.
Easiest way is to just tell your GF that you want to taste Isaan food.. she will do the rest. ÝFor a few hundred baht food for an army will appear. Don't forget to ask for Khaau Niauw (Sticky Rice)!

the resturant above the supermarket/diner is both reasonable and has some nights music too...issaan food can be hot..and interfer with the mornings rounds...but if she likes that food especially there is in the soi garden beer and food arcade on soi11 an isaan menu

no restaurants! never ever..they don't
a) deserve the food offered in restaurants
b) they don't enjoy the food offered in restaurants
c) they are issarn baboons (MOST IMPORTANT POINT!!!)
d) i would never want to be seen with one of these IB's in a restaurant!! god forbid!
Just b/f her, go for s/t or l/t. if food is needed, there are hundreds of vendors on the sidewalk. i cannot understand why so many take their "girl" to nice restaurants thinking they are doing a good thing to the girl. the "girl" is not interested eating some strange food (baboon diet is different). just let her have her issarn food (sticky rice and chicken rocks!) and everything is fine.
