i'm part mexican (mostly my stomach), and I can verify that there is no good or authentic mexican food in bkk. best bet: make your own, if you can find the corn tortillas. I try to make my own. what you'll find in bkk is more of tex-mex...which holds little real comparison to true mexican (or california-mexican) food. good luck. better to eat asian/thai pussy

Must try the Mexican restaurant on the corner of Patpong at Silom side. Forgot the name but you can't miss it. Wonderful food and has the advantage of a great location for after dinner party

The Mexican food at the Great American Rib Co. is great, but not as good as the ribs. Rob, the chef-partner was previously at Tequila Reef in Pattaya, which, (IMHO) has the best Mex in the LOS. I've eaten Rob's food for years in San Francisco and it's authentic. I hear they're opening a place in Hua Hin soon.

So you are saying that Tex-Mex is not real Mexican food and California Mexican food is real Mexican? OK, this is war.

I actually prefer Mexican-American food found in the southwest as opposed to Mexican food found inside Mexico. I'm curious, do the TGs like it? I would be surprised if they did with all the cheeses, sour cream, guacamole, etc...

Considering the number of Mexicans who live in the Southwest US, that is not surprising. The sour cream, guac, etc if from those sissies in California.

No offense to my Texas, California, or Arizona brethren, but the best and most flavorful "Mexican" food comes from the state of New Mexico and no I am not a New Mexican or even an old Mexican... The Hatch, New Mexico green chiles make the food incredible and I wish I could find even a reasonable facsimile in Krung Thep.

I'm not sure how you all are differentiating between Tex Mex (chili, fajitas and chimichangas?), New Mexico (black beans?) and California (guacamole, sour cream and monterey cheese?) versions of Mexican food, but I prefer dishes from specific regions of Mexico: Oaxacan, Yucatan and Michoacan cuisines, for example. I'm not saying it's better or more authentic, I'm just saying it's what I like. Fortunately for me I can easily find regional Mexican restaurants in LA, as I'm sure you can throughout the US Southwest.

I have no idea what's authentic and what's not. All I know is that with the exception of a single visit to Senor Picos, I haven't had any Mexican food that I thought was worth having. If there is a good Mexican restaurant in Bangkok or Pattaya, I haven't found it yet.
