A small survey of 3 Gourmet burgers
Woodstock Bar & Grill – 44 Soi Thonglor 13
House Burger – B275. Described as “a Large creole beef patty with double cheese and our own tangy sauce”. Served with fries. This was the tastiest burger of the 3 surveyed. You don’t get a lot of fries. If the meal was any smaller I would have left hungry
Larrys Dive - 8 Sukhumvit Soi 22
CIA Burger 250B++ “Larry's famous 180g ground beef burger with lettuce, tomato & onion on sesame seed bun served with french fries”. Okay taste wise, nothing spectacular. The portion size was very disappointing, if this was the best tasting burger then yeah maybe they could get away with it. It wasn’t. This time I DID leave hungry, Was also landed with the tax and service charge on top of the price of the burger, won’t be back
Soi 8 Pub and Restaurant – Soi 8 Sukhumvit
Cheese Burger 195B – “Our homemade Classic with double melted cheese on a toasted bun”. Portion wise this was by far the largest with plenty of fries. You won’t leave hungry after this burger meal. Not quite as tasty as the Woodstock burger, the cheese not very creamy, but the price and portion size make this my favourite of the 3 surveyed

There is a girl doing this now. Or was, a few months ago when I last looked. Excellent burgers, and cheap too. If you cannot see her outside, she might be just inside the entrance, on the right. All sorts end up buying her burgers at 2 in the morning, you'd be surprised some of the people end up in that queue.

Barrafish's Aussie burger is all home made, starting from the home made sesame seed bun. This bun is not a store bought air bag, it's real home made bread with the homemade taste, the light taste of the sesame seed is evident from the first bite. The burger is grilled to the right consistency, topped with grilled onions, tomatoes, lettuce and two slices of beets. I had cheese put on my burger. Fries come with the burger. The sesame seed bun, the meat, the grilled onions and the beets all meld into gastronomical delight at first bite and continues through the meal.
The burger it self warrants a stop at Jingjo's in Udon Thani. But, to discover the real Udon Thani you need to talk to Barrafish.

... read somewhere here that Chokchai Farm did a great burger... better known for cheap beef, rather than quality beef, Chokchai is suspect, but I took a shot at it.
... the short of it is that I was served a seared burger that was room temperature... couldn't quite figure out how a grilled burger could get so cold so fast, until I thought a bit more of it... it looked right, seared with grill marks and all, but something was just not right
... then the realization dawned on me that these guys had PRE-COOKED this beef-esque piece of crap!... eee-yeeeew!... that they insufficiently MICROWAVED it was the giveaway... I was just blown away!
... the reason I could not figure it out at first, is that even the worst burger joints in all the world would never even THINK of microwaving a pre-cooked burger!... who would have even imagined it!
... scratch Cholchai Farm!

The roomservice burger at the Grand President at around 3 am seemed pretty good to me. Actually, like heaven on earth. Generous greasy burger on a greasy bun with cheese and an egg on top surrounded by greasy fries and several packets of Ketchup. Damned near heaven! Probably would not be as good if I had not been drinking since 7pm.

New favorite street-burger: Tiger Burger, Soi Cowboy, left side as you approach Soi 23, just past Baccara. Very tender meat, cooked to order, good condiments. Cheap and good.

Just grabbed a burger here. Got the burger set with fries and beer for 200 baht. Added an egg and cheese topping for an extra 20 baht. Not a bad burger, though smallish, fries were crispy, burger was greasy and tasty. I'd say it's a pretty good deal...
