ModaPesce is another offspring of the current "fusion" wave that is taking Bangkok by force...
It's supposed to be an Italian restaurant serving fish cooked in "fusion" way....
Place pretend to be classy but it fails at a deep inspection.....quality of food is questionable....fusion in fact.....some food is great, some food is ok, some food sucks big time....
The only sure thing is that is bloody pricey, given that fish & seafood in Thailand is so cheap!
It seems to me that everyone with some little capital to invest thinks that a "upclass" Italian restaurant is good to go......
Me think it's a shame Italian ppl cannot find out nothing better than keep opening restaurants....

Me personally not being Italian and not having terribly high standards (or wealthy), I'm usually okay with above-average Italian eateries in the medium price range - 150b-250b per pizza/pasta, per person. Toscana and Bella Napoli (both on Suk Soi 31) seem to fit the bill (no pun intended )

you look more italian than caronte!! bella napoli is cool. so is limoncello.
for finer dining zanotti or giusto.
and then there are probably anther couple of 100 italians around town. seems they are popping up like mushrooms.

probably not 'cool' probably not 'trendy' but certainly great food.
Soi RuamRudee and the name, something like Baan Kahntika. Anyway, the food was awesome, my favourite, roast duck curry, was the best I have ever had, suuuuuperb. All the other dishes were also excellent, except for the stuffed octopus, but no accounting for some Poms taste.
Also had the greatest concentration of falangs I have seen in one small area and on a Monday night.
As for price, well I consider it very cheap for such a nice place and good food, we fed 5 people and a couple of drinks for 3100baht.
oh and the freelancers at Conrad were kinda cute, oh and the 2 scotttish guys wining and dining the 2 lb's to a custom of which they were not accustom or should be, were bloody ugly.

Yomon mentioned something about a replacement for brew pavilion? news to me as the pavilion was never a chic nor expensive place, but indeed great food, beer & venue!
Chicasia.com mentions 'river bar' & if I'm not mistaken I was taken there on my recent meeting with the GF family & it was 'dad's' favorite & food not bad BUT definitely not trendy or anything!!
Buritara however on the bkk side of the river off rama 3 seemed a new trendish venue with the usual seafood & whiskey clientiele & live music inside
I had better thai food elsewhere though!

Also Bed Supperclub not really expensive with it's set menu pricing below B1000, but hey I supose it's cool alright to hang with the other 'tourists' there & bringing your BG...

It was Chuu Chii Bla Muk Yad Sai...and don't you f_cking forget it.
Squid stuffed with Pork and crab meat.
It was excellent....even the teddy bear thought so as he had a second try.
the only problem was the curtains...what there are no curtains there....what was that awful colour splattered cloth I remember????
I had a bad seat to spy the one particular freelancer at the bar...but she was cute....as cute as the one we spyed from the taxi opposite Emporium.
You still hiding under the bed or has the storm subsided?

M/N I am confused on this one...
Baan Khanitha is a very famous upmarket Thai restaurant but it is located in Suk soi 23 - a converted thai house.
It serves what some people call 'royal thai' food and usually appears in those 'top 5' thai restaurants magasines.
Certainly is one of those cool trendy (and overpriced) sort of places but I much prefer the less sweet, less fried kind of thai food. The food there has a 'farang taste' hence the high concentration of farang. Very like Baan Rim Pa in Phuket.
No idea whether you have got your directions mixed up or whether Baan Khanitha has opened a new branch.
BTW anyone looking for new, cool restaurants should try H1 in Thonglor - has Chi, To Die For and Extase all interesting, upmarket and full of hi-so thai totty.
