Kryptonite

I was raised primarily by my Grandfather, who was a military man in Germany during WWII. Thus, if it was put in front of me I had to eat it and not say a word. After this though, I can say that I can pretty much eat anything. And Have Pig balls, Bull balls, Lamb balls, Turkey balls, grasshoppers, maggots, blood soup, blood clots, raw fish....so many odd ball things I have eaten I can not remember them all. Oh yes, I have also eaten DOG and CAT

Balut (sounds like Baloot). It’s a Philippine delicacy. It’s a fertilized duck egg that’s been allowed to gestate for 18 days (up to 21 days). After it’s cooked, you crack open the top and drink the broth (it tastes like chicken soup). Then you peel off the rest of the shell and eat it like a hardboiled egg. Yummy.

As mentioned in a similar thread, I sampled fried bugs during my visit to LOS in March. There was a cart at the entrance to Soi Cowboy and I ate grasshoppers, crickets, beetles and a couple of big water beetles. My TG showed me the correct way to eat them - pulling the wings off some and pulling the heads off others, etc. They come in a bag with some seasoning thrown on and we ate them with a few beers at the Irish pub there. I found them to be extremely tasty and most unusual and I'd have no hesitation to try them again. There were no harmful side-effects nor illnesses although I am now attracted to the interiors of 7-11 stores.

Balut sounds yummy... Anybody know if it can be had (and where) in BKK? btw: I kinda think of grasshoppers and crickets as Thai potato chips... except the legs get stuck between your teeth...
