What about Ohm Thong on Soi 33?
Ambience was pretty good, I liked the classical Thai music. Was a bit pricey though, sure like the edible baskets.

Nice ambience....and of course, watching you eat the basket was a high point.

In Phuket I had an excellent meal at the Thai Thai restaurant located in the Arcadia Resort Hotel (Karon Beach - 15 minutes from Patong).
My restaurant knowledge is limited in Thailand but it was one of the best meals I have ever eaten in my life.
It is a classy restaurant but you can dress fairly casual. I believe they open at 6pm.
In BKK- The Mango Tree was also very good. Located near Patpong it is actually a classical Thai house that is about a 100 years old. Both indoor and outdoor dining is available. Went here on a tip from a local bartender. I really felt as if I was in someone's house when I ate there. I actually have the address and phone number of this place.

I enjoyed eating at Cabbages and Condoms, that was one of the best meals I had. The decor is something to admire also. I liked the Vasectomy Bar the best. Really though, it has great food and it is pretty reasonable for a nice restaurant.

I'll have to agree with Yurune about C&C. Overpriced, food is good but not amazing.. Special mention for the option of healthier rice (red) and of course the good cause promoted by Khun Mechai. Ambience OK but... I just don't see what the big deal is about this place - OK, certainly one of the better places for the farang tourist to eat at around inner Sukhumvit, but still...
My favourite for Thai food: Any restaurant in the To-Sit / Kin-Deum chain, they have about 5. Two on Phra-Arthit road in Banglampoo, one by the river far away, and two in Siam Square. I recommend the new one (Kin-Deum) on Siam Square next to iBerry, music not as loud as its sister establishment, To-Sit (2nd fl.) that's one soi east, on Siam Square. Menu is the same in each, and they do all Thai food amazingly well at reasonable (<100Bt/dish for almost everything) prices. Try the specialty, "Laab Meatballs".. Aroi mak mak.

C&C is a great cause indeed, and I also agree that it's one of the better places to eat up in the Sukhumvit 'Farang Ghetto'
I still personally would make no effort to go eat there, it to me is very much second rate.
btw, Set Laew, yes I love 'Khao Khlong' as well, though I always find it preferential at lunchtime. Sadly my regular 'Red Rice' restaurant is not out of reach of my current working location.
