Sorry gents, but the burger at Jamerson's is a dog... I work in the area, and have struck out more than once at Jameson's.

The burger blog is a good idea, (especially if compared to cut/pastes from the Post restaurant page) but it needs to be driven by good judgement and a sense of the true burger. Sliders yes. Jameson's and Hyde... uh uh.

new spot that opened finally, was on private invitation for a while, and I believe is on chefsxp delivery now

Bangkok Burger Company on Thonglor Soi 10, [between Wine Republic and Muse].
got about 15 burgers to choose from (pork and beef versions), the beef is aged for 21 days and formed to order. as well as a few other sandwiches chicken parm, meatball, philly cheese and veg options...

had the bacon cheese, cooked to pretty good medium... good buns with a side of coleslaw and steak fries.

check it out...

....check it out.

Don't bother, unless you're looking for disappointment. This establishment joins a very crowded field of venues offering mediocre renditions of the true hamburger.

Bangkok Burger Co is a small shop seating about 25 with red faux leather booths, plastic tables, paper napkins... a clean but oddly unappealing space with glass on one wall that features a view of the adjoining parking garage.

About 15 burger types are on offer, sized either regular or large (b230/295) in beef or pork versions. The gimmick is "national cuisine" themes... design your own, Swiss, Mexican, Panang, Yankee, Emporor (with wasabi), Spaniard, etc. A dozen sides are available including fries, salad, onion rings, chicken wings and calamari (b75-175). Other options are minced lamb burger, philly steak, (tenderloin) meatball sandwich, a couple of chicken and vegetarian dishes or fish fingers.

Deserts are limited... ice cream, hot chocolate fudge cake and chocolate spring rolls (b145). Also prominent on the menu are milk shakes, fruit shakes (b100), and shakes with a splash of liquer (b195).

There is no wine list...house wine only (from a box) is b140/glass. The servers are young and clueless... which is typical of most trendy spots.

I was unable to get excited about the prospect of a burger with Spanish or Malaysian inflections, so I went with the only remotely straightforward option... the cheese (two kinds) with bacon. I was not surprised to find it inedible... the ground meat had a noticeable cereal component and a gamy undercurrant that reminded me of horse meat. The patty was far too thick, making for a tower effect. The fries were edible but soft and uninspired. The so-called cole slaw was made from head lettuce rather than cabbage... a first in my experience and most definitely not an improvement on the original recipe.

Loud sounds of construction and drilling immediately above added further to the misery, and I fled after a few unsatisfactory bites.

Open 11am-11pm daily, parking in the basement garage (which is usually full). A small outdoor area overlooks the roar of Tonglor 10 for those who need a smoke break.

The authentic American hamburger remains a rare and endangered species here in Thailand. You will be in no danger of encountering it at "Burger Co".

Report from Bangkok Post dated 20 December 2011 :-

L3 Eatery - Burger Buffet
================

Le Fenix Sukhumvit is presenting what it bills as a one-of-a-kind, New York City-inspired burger buffet tailored by diners and hand-made by the hotel's chefs.

Dubbed ''Unlimited Order Burgers'', the all-you-can-eat promotion (199 baht per person) features 12 kinds of burgers: classic, Mexican, fish fillet, chicken teriyaki, bruschetta chicken, Greek, vegetarian, mushroom, croquette, Hawaiian, guacamole-bacon and pork Cordon Bleu.

Diners can also go for the free flow of pasta prepared to order with a choice of sauces. Also on offer are a variety of Thai dishes, international fajitas, organic salads, noodle soup, hot and cold tapas, Japanese sushi and a range of desserts.

This value-for-money buffet is available at lunchtime on weekdays only.

... today, I tried L3 Eatery's burger buffet, cited above... it insults the arthritic old mule who gave it's life for this culinary abomination... at THB 199, this 'value' buffet is overpriced.

... the bkkburgerblog cited at the bottom of page 41 is a very reliable resource... although, one recommended burger seems horribly misreported.

... the Bangkok Burger Company, reviewed above, was pretty bad... tried it twice, with the same opinion... bottom line is that the meat is heavily cut with fillers... the consistency (soft and mushy) and taste was like meat loaf... my Thai colleagues liked it, but jeez, these guys eat bugs... definately a mutant fusion burger, rather than a traditional American burger.

... Great American Rib used to have a great burger, but it fell from grace when they lost their executive chef and general manager... a common failing of many restaurants, I guess.

... right now, my money is on The Firehouse Grill (Soi 11) as a best burger in town... eaten there 4-5 times and never disappointed... co-owned by a sharp Thai cookie, educated and lived overseas, and an American attorney, both of whom 'gets it'.

... a number of new entries to the BKK burger scene are out there... Monsoon (at The Adelphi on Soi 11) does a great burger I think is a bonafide contender... and I heard good word on 25 Degrees (of LA fame) at the newly branded Pullman (formerly Sofitel) on Silom, which I hope to try next week.

... and if you are into soulless wretch-burgers, Carl's Jr. chain restaurant just launched in Thailand with their flagship store at The Davis Hotel on Soi 24.

Interesting, I much prefer BKK Burger to Firehouse...even though the service, music, fun and beer were much better at FH than BB.
