Bandit c'mon, I know you have read most of my posts. I would expect that at least you of all people would know by now that I am kindda kidding 95% of the time. When posting and trying to simulate a fight, I just kind of mirror the other person's behaviour while trying to sound serious and trying to make some sense. As for the dog thing ... I said earlier in this thread that I may have tried dog by accident in Vietnam, but I am not sure I did. Anyway, whatever it is I ate that day tasted good. I would not make an effort to eat dog. But on the other hand, I would not make a herculean effort to avoid it, if it is served and it is the only thing available ... I may try a small piece and then decide. But I am not sure. I would tell you guys once I have to face crossing that bridge...until then.... I do not know.

Hundreds of people in a Thai district infamous for its love of dog meat have rallied against a proposal to ban the slaughtering and eating of man's best friend, an official said today.
More than 300 dog traders and buthers in Tha Rae, a district in Thailand's impoverished northeast, gathered in the marketplace yerterday to demostrate against new provicial Governor Panchai Borvornratanapran's initiative.
They demanded to meet with Panchai, who vowed to end the controversial practice after assuming office in June,said provincial spokesman Raksit Wathayotha.
Representatives of the dog traders later held a meeting with Panchai who agreed to ask a local educational institution in Sakhon Nakhon province to conduct a public survey on the business.
"The Governor said that he doesn't want to impose the opinion of the entire province,which favours ending dog-meat trading, on Tha Rae people," Raksit said.
"He wants them to make their own decision and he will not object if the majority of Tha Rae people still want to practise dog-meat eating and selling".
The Tha Rae district, some 650kms northeast of Bangkok, is renowed for its slaugher and sale of dog mea, with 300 to 400 strays illegally rounded daily and culled in the trade.
Panchai said that there are some 17 dog slaughter houses and 300 people involved in dog meat trading in Tha Rae. ------ AFP

Just my 2 cents on the subject.
First, with a the Soi dogs everywhere, I do not think dog meat is high on the Thai menu. Re the Thai cows, they are skinner than the Thai women, not much meat on them, no wonder Thailand imports Australian & USA beef.
Now lets talks about what Thai's do not like to eat. When back in the states at Thanksgiving dinner, my brother asked my Thai wife how she like the turkey. Her fork immediately dropped to the table and she did not eat another bite. "How can you eat such an ugly bird?" Some Thai's call it the Big Chicken.
Some other animals on Thai's do not eat list.. Rabbit, Veal and Lamb. "How could you eat such cute animals"
So I guess their meat selection is based upon looks. Not to ugly and not to cute.
