I know most of you guys arent into this BUT I like cool trendy restaurants - the type of place you can take a client or a TG (non-BG) and they are really impressed. This maybe despite the food is only ok and the prices ridiculously high by Thai standards.
The 3 restaurants that stand out are:
The Face
Bed Supperclub
Sirocco
(Plenty of information on all 3 within this website)

For a trendy break from too much great Thai food or from same-same pizzas, Sanremo Pizzeria fits the bill. Thick-crust Italian style gourmet pizzas, good wines, et al. Central wood burning pizza oven imported from Italy, along with the chef who actually has an Italian degree in pizza making. Intimate, clean upbeat atmosphere. Not an impressive/glitzy fine-dining experience, but definitely an impressive casual-dining experience - Suk Soi 31.
For an impressive little restaurant try Le Dalat. Pretty garden entry, pleasantly elegant interior decor & food presentation, & great service. Last year's Bangkok Best Restaurants Award, Vietnam category. Suk 23 (nicest one of two sister restaurants is the one farthest from Sukhumvit).

An Italian restaurant we went to today in Soi 11, good food, good service, very nice and clean. The royal family apparently eats there and some well known models. In fatc the princess had a table booked there today, but then heard we were there and cancelled.

Hey I am into trendy restaurants and unlike most BG's I will dress to impress and not do something stupid like order Thai food at an Italian restaurant. Spend your hard earn baht on someone who appreciates your good taste. Then after dinner we can pickup TG's who will be tickled pink with noodle soup from the sidewalk vendors
