Had dinner at an all new place last night, called Leelavadee. Just opened in December.
It is just in front of the Glasshome disco club on Ramkhamhaeng Soi 39, not far from the SC Park Hotel.
This place has been designed in Bali style by a real artist. Lots of water/waterfall and superb lighting giving an outstanding ambiance. Hard to describe, you've got to see for yourself.
Food is oustanding. Some of our party had Thai food and were thrilled. Some had Western courses and were impressed. Chinese and Japanese are also on the menu but we did not order. Upscape dining, but to our surprise at very reasonable cost for such an upscale place.
We will definitely be back there, if we feel like impressing friends or just want to have a good evening in a perfect atmosphere. Definitely the best dining place in this part of Bangkok.

I went there about 2 weeks ago and I will not return. The food was mediocre at best and the service was terrible, unacceptable for Thai. The ambience is nice however. Dining outside is very nice.
The place is called Leelawadee and is named after the type of plant that you see planted all around.
For a similar type of ambience, I'd recommend Bale over this place any day.

You must have been at Leelavadee on one of the first days after the opening (the place is brand new), if your service experience was not good.
My experience at mid January was first class and I went there again last weekend, with the same positive experience.
The selection of food is so vast that you must have picked some stuff you don't like, or you were used to some different cooking style. It is obviously hard to argue about taste.
Me and my (Thai) company were thrilled by food, ambiance and service every time, especially so as the prices are very reasonable.

I went there at the end of December. I actually went back on my word and went there again with another girlfriend who wanted to check it out. This was last Friday.
Same result. Poor service, our drinks were not filled in a timely fashion, I had to serve myself on several occasions. Bad food. Last time I ordered softshell crab that stunk like rotten fish. This time we ordered what was supposed to be minced pork and it came out as a seafood stew. I pointed it out in the menu and apparently there was a translation error. I told them I wanted the minced pork dish and they ended up giving me the same stew but this time with ham instead of seafood. It took them so long to bring the replacement dish out that the little bit of morning glory we had we weren't even hungry anymore. And the stew tasted horrible. Both of my girlfriends did not like the food or service.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me.
Bad food, bad service, OK, that's the last time I go there... well at least until another girlfriend asks...
The place is still so new that where they sat us wreaked of wood stain, kinda like the smell of paint thinner.
Every other place I've been too is better than this one... Even Glass Home (and I think they are owned by the same person).

Harry, too professional description for visitor...you can tell us that is your place, or your friends and offer a discount if we know some key word from your post on BKKtonite forum. Believe me it will bring more customers than trolling around, we are too sensitive to hidden advertising after few year on this board.
