After many years of visting Bangkok and even living there for extended periods of time, I found a Thai-Chinese restaurant that can't be beat.
Many mid-level Thai civil servants and career bank employees eat here and they are very picky about their food:

Great dishes of every Thai-Chinese variety.

All dishes very inexpensive - recent dinner for 3 was Bt 400! Menu has pictures of most things to help non Thai speakers along.
Place is open very late so if you need food after Soi Cowboy, its available!

Well being Chinese, I do not think they ever close. Always open for business. In fact there is very old man who appears to be falling asleep most of the time, but let me tell you do not cross his path when somebody is ready to pay their bill or else he will run you over. I never seen an old guy move so fast.
I have been dinning at this place on a regular basis with mix results. They seem to have some things that they do very well and others that are not so good.
The minced Fried Catfish Salad (One of my personnal favorites) is the best that I have ever tasted in BKK, Definately a winner.
Thai soups are very good.
I tried their Pomphet (spelling???) fish cooked two different ways and it was not good so best to pass on this item.
It appears to be open very late. Later than the bars unfortunately.
