One of my favorite late night places to eat Thai food was right next to Soi Cowboy. I stumbled into the place quite a few times after a long night. You walk out of Soi Cowboy (on the Soi 23 side), take a right, and it is right there before you hit Sukhumvit. I like their Tom Yum Goong (phet phet).

Cabbages and Condoms, soi 12, I think.
Not a pussy place but a nice relaxing Thai garden atmosphere, clean, good food, thai music players, not expensive and right in the heart of sukhumvit, 5 mins walk from Nana or cowboy. They give everyone a coupla condoms for you to use in 5 mins walk too. Nice foot massage there in a side area, 60 baht.

Blue Elephant: Best combination of food, ambiance, presentation, service and price on the planet - IMHO.

Lemon Grass: Pleasant atmosphere of an old Thai house - excellent food; ask for a seat in the rear room near window - romantic.

A Moment in Time: Have cocktails seated on pillows on the raised deck overlooking their romantic garden. Then dine on the garden patio, or, in bad weather, inside their lovely old Thai house. Ask them to let you walk upstairs with TGF for a look at their romantic (private) bedrooms. (Off the beaten track - down the soi across the road from Panthip Plaza).

Silom Village: Large nicely planted outdoor patio dining, surrounded by antique shops with seafood choices on display.

Yok Yor: Great seafood selection on outdoor dining deck on the Chao Phraya (do not dine inside - noisy mediocre entertinment). Great prices and casual atmosphere. (Across the river from Rivercenter - take Yok Yor's free ferry from Rivercenter Pier.)

Gullivers: For a good snack, early or late, surrounded by eye candy, in the midst of Nana, Eden, Biergren 7, etc.

Chao Phraya Princess Cruise Boat: A magical ride up and downriver past beautifully lighted temples, etc., dancing to their band under the stars along the way. Mediocre but acceptable Thai buffet however.

Tony Roma's: Meaty barbecue ribs - when you get overloaded on Thai food and need a chnge.

(All the above are medium priced).

Sala Rim Nam: The best dinner/dance show in town with classical dance/music, operated by the Oriental Hotel, with ferry across the river provided by Oriental. Book in advance – any other dinner show is touristy by comparison.

Vertigo open-air bar atop the Banyan Tree overlooking BKK for sunset or late night cocktails (or dining - but expensive). Incredible views of Bangkok, considered the 4th most spectacular skyline - behind NY, HK, & Chicago.

Sirocco: Most incredible views from any restaurant anywhere - from 64th floor. Outstanding food - ultra expensive. Or just visit their open-air bar for cocktails and that spectcular view.

That should be enough for a week's stay. Bangkok - best choice of restaurants ANYWHERE - and best of all ethnic cuisine. Don't miss Tom Yam Kung, thailand's national specialty shrimp soup. Otherwie experiment - I have seldom had any Thai food that wasn't a treat. But WARNING: ask for LIGHT spicy and be sure that the waiter understands, until you can handle the flaming chile in many of their dishes.

DO NOT bother with any of those large outdoor seafood restaurants, especially one that your taxi touts - most are spectacularly overpriced.

It's called Love Scene and yes, it's good quality Thai food. It's also very popular with the SC ladies and their "dates" which makes for interesting fellow diners (and it's open 24 hours).

Lee's Chineese joint corner of Langsuan/soi sarisin (near Lumpani Park). I always go for the Tom Yum Gung and whatever the TG picks out for me. Always fresh, always good.
After dinner pick up some roasted chestnuts from the chick out front.

Sarge,, I'd stay away from Scirocco, silly pricks can't even spell the name of their own restaurant.
They seem to think its Sirocco,,, fools. Must be Australian management?

ah well spotted mate, I've been there a few times and I loved the view. Food is good as is the service. Yes it's expensive, always paid in the region of 8k + for a meal of two incl. all the trimmings and bubbles, it never failed to impress the girls though.

Don't drink that much, only a couple or so social drinks but I'll gladly share them with you. btw, just back from {south} Cronulla, been there for 3 full days of company conference. Bored to tears during business meetings but loved getting away as much as I could, strolling around the beach, socialising with locals and dining and wining at nights. Lovely place and good food to be had all around.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I know it ain't Bangkok but I feel that this {north} Cronulla gem: Summer Salt deserves an honourable mention here. Its BBQ eye Fillet with potato fondant, Pancetta & mixed mushroom is to die for. A must visit if anyone happens to be in that part of the world. Plus the sea view at dusk is magnificent. Dined there two nights on the row. Will be back again.
