Soi 8 - Stable Lodge. Good old fashioned Danish food. Better than your mum's cooking (almost). Does also do some Norwegian and Swedish food.
Saturdays and Sundays a very nice buffet up to 1500 hours at only Baht 495++.

haraplang,, once you have hooked-up with a few gals it won't take long to find some good value places.
At the "Shark bar end of Soi cowboy,,,, turn right,,walk 40 metres, I think the place is called "Love scene" good food,small bill.
Quality food should be one of the least of your expenses in BKK. ( Good food is cheap)
Most certainly try MK restaurant, available throughout Bangkok ( franchise ), the Duck is superb!!!!!!!!!!

As you can see from the Sunday Brunch thread I am budgetting for ONE great meal here in a hotel as well =)
I ate a great Middle Eastern meal here in Suk 3, I think, very near the main road on the way to Grace Hotel. Very tasty, good meat dishes. Can't remember the name, sadly. = (

I agree with Mel, the duck is great. I always get it. The closest MK is at Robinson's, soi 17, in the basement. Its a small one and so will be full during rush periods.
It is Love Scene. Lots of bar girls go there and like it. Good food, but not all that in-expensive.
Stable Lodge sounds interesting. I'll try it when I am back in a couple of months.
And, Mel is also right that quality food, especially Thai food, is cheap by Western standards.
