Was in Phuket from 9/7-9/11 for the 1st time. Stayed at the Royal Paradise hotel which is about a 5 minute walk to Soi Bangla. This is a nice hotel with the majority of the guest asian. In fact I saw only one white dude which is fine for me since I am an asian american from Hawaii. the service is good also. The hotel however is requires a 600bt fee for guest which is not that bad considering that a short time hotel is 500bt. If you plan to do some sightseeing in Phuket do not come during the rainy season since it rained everyday. the sea can get nasty too. I took a spead boat to PhiPhi Island and the water was very rough and the rain was pouring. Some people were throwing up and we were not able to see all of our scheduled destinations. James Bond island was a better choice since it is located in a bay.
I didn't go to any beer bars since that is not my thing. if you do like beer bars, Soi Bangla is the place to go. Hundreds of them. I went to three gogo bars and found Rock Hard to be the best not only in Phuket but in Thailand. It is like a strip bar here in Hawaii. In fact I was talkikng to Ira one of the owners who lived in Hawaii and said that he tried to copy Hawaii strip bars. The girls here are friendly and they won't hastle you. A lot of the girls are also very beautiful. I was in heaven. The prices are steap compared to BK. Heinekens are about 110 bt, lady drinks are 120bt and bar fines are 600bt. Girls ask for 2000bt short time. Didn't bargain since I thought it was worth it.
I also took a peak inside Christians MP. There are three prices, 1800 for the fat ones, 2000 for the regulars and 2200 for the "stunners". I thought the girls at Rock Hard were better looking so I passed. This place is located on Rat-u-thit. As you are facing Star World disco, just walk to the left about 10 minutes.
Food is also more expensive in Phuket. Lobsters are anywhere from 110-220bt per gram compared to 80bt in BK.
Overall I had a good time but the rain dampered my trip.

I know that ride to Phi Phi is hell, luckily my group held up like troopers, no yaks. Sounds like Phuket is really starting to jack up their prices. Sorry to hear your trip was rained out. I went in July and I only remember it raining a few times (usually only lasting 10-15 minutes).

remember my first boat trip around Phang-Nga,it was an awful day and just rained as soon as we got into the Longtails.
the waves were high and the mist came down and we hardly saw a thing.
but it was very atmospheric at the same time.
the prices in RH have been that for around 2 years,the most expensive BF i found in Patong.
is upstairs(SJ'sR)still closed/up for sale?
but i knew of one Bar Beer which charged 150 for a LD.
but not a problem as i saved on the free drinks i managed to earn.

I would like to voice the opinion that the Thai Go Gos are really not like the one in Hawaii...Lets stipulate that we are talking about Honolulu Go go bars...(seldon will you find a go go outside of Honolulu, not even away from town due to forthcomming zones) with ion the ladt ten years...

HNL no problem...
There are some clubs in the back streets of Kakaako and Waipahu where things a a little different.
If you are looking to get laid in HNL stay out of the GoGo Bars cause you won't get it there. There is about 4 different law groups watching those places..
More than 10 years ago things were different. Upstairs ST rooms High Back Booths and lots of touching...
The differences in GoGo's in HNL and BKK are huge. Shite I've never scene a Kateoy at a Hawaii go go. Gold Clubs in New Orleans and Vegas, yes but none in HNL.

I too made my first trip to Phuket 9/14 - 9/20. Stayed at the Burasari. Awesome hotel with staff that could not do enough for you. I brought my own and she was treated with the utmost respect
I expecially enjoyed the Bands at night as there were at least 4 to choose from only a short distance from the Hotel.
Trip to Phi Phi was great until we arrived and the sky opened up and did its thing. Pretty rough ride heading back
There were two nights we could not leave the hotel due to heavy rains, however I found plenty to do to occupy our time.

I am going to stay in Le meridin hotel at the end of October. Any body know how far it is from Patong and are the Guest/Girl friendly or not?

have you read the posts about Phuket?.
did you do a search on the internet?
which Le Meridian are you booked into?(there are 2)
do you really want to pay their prices?.
you realise they are both 4-5 star?
have you asked if guests are allowed for the night?.
would you rather stay in a hotel for 2/3's of the price which is guest friendly?.
there are many hotels which offer good facilities,are guest friendly and really cheap and nearer the main parts of town.
i wish people would use the search engines which are available all over the internet.
that is what they are there for.
but if you stay at which ever one you have booked into,enjoy yourself and start crying now about the 500-1000 you will lose every night bringing a Girl home.

The Meridian is a great hotel. Eventhough I have my own place in Patong I tend to spend a fair amount of time at the Meridian. It is a good 5 minutes drive to Soi Bangla and has a great location on a private bay. Good facilities (Gym is good!) with great pool to laze around. Nokna states that you can get great hotels for less than waht you might spend closer into Patong, which is absolutely true. But if you are willing to spend a few more Bath, I can honestly recommend the Meridian.
Concerning joiner fees.... have heard several stories from guys who were not botherred at all by anybody, some though, were charged a joiner fee. I never stayed here myself, nobody paid a joiner fee for me to enjoy myself on their grounds....
