I have a free week at the Amari but have learned I'll be spending 1000 Thai$ to have a girl in for the night and 150Thai$ each time I catch a TukkTukk in and out of the hotel. I'm thinking I could buzz off the Amari and stay in walking distance with no girl fees and spend less. Am I on the right track? Also, are there other discussion boards about Phuket. I've got some notices put up on one but little help back. Seems they are pre occupied with something other than Patong and too busy for my questions. Looking forward to Thailand. I arrive in Patong Oct 30th and wounder if I need to bring a Holloween Costume... How about lumberjack in shorts, I doubt I can run around with a double edge and chain saw.

Think you can do better with another hotel. The Amari's in BKK are decidely non-girl friendly (been there, done that, won't do it again) and the joiner fees way too high. Assume it similar down south.
You will probably save money and be happier with any of the other places the bro's have described.

I agree about the Amari in Patong, for what I can learn and that is part of a package I won so the Amari would be free. What do you know of the Patong Bay Garden?

Hello Pete... I stayed a couple of nights at the PBGR in early Sept. It is on Beach Rd, just north of Bangla Rd. I payed $46 per night for one of the balcony rooms. The staff was very friendly and the room was clean. The pool was well-maintained and there is also a free breakfast buffet. The shower stall had no glass, only a curtain. Bringing girls back to the room is no problem, but they charge a 500 baht joiner fee per girl (of course I had a different girl each night). Although, you are a short walk from the action, I actually picked up a girl right in front of my hotel who was absolutely wonderful. I researched for a couple of months on Patong Beach hotels and except for the joiner fee, I was very happy with my stay there and would stay there again...
